Beautiful! By some odd co-incidence I'm playing Half Life 2 Ep2 at the moment (5 striders to go...) and I've been feeling the urge to make Half Life MOCs! Thanks! The rest are very good too; Alyx is perfect and the G-man is creepy...

I use my broken pieces as fillers for things like train hoppers. I do the same thing with the sprues. I throw very little LEGO out!

New posts misses a lot. If you jump on the site at 2pm, quickly look at one topic, and then come back at 5pm, all that "New Topics" will show is between 2pm and 5pm. All the stuff that was shown at 2pm is "lost". "Active topics" doesn't work that way and shows a lot more. I much prefer "Active Topics"... and that's why I added it to the header of all pages!

Nice MOC, but it's let down with the lighting. I bet those two last guys end up swimming! In this case I believe Armored Personnel Carrier.

A mech. I was (in tablescraps fashion) playing around with parts from the Midgard Serpent of the Viking set, and decided to make something different out of it. Thanks. It's actually my favourite non-finished MOC. (I've got loads...) It was never finished partially due to time, but mostly as I couldn't make legs that I liked.

I like this, but I've never got around to finishing it.

Job advert at TLG - Graphic Designer
Siegfried replied to CopMike's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I'd love the job... but sadly (mostly due to the free-hand drawing skills) I'm not qualified. Brick Miner You however are more than qualified! I looked at your work (I'd already seen most of it bar the comic book stuff) and it's stunning. Don't give up! (I miss seeing you around... ) -
There's no option for that! (The fact that there's an option to disable a feature is often a bad sign.) To remove QuickEdit I'd need to be more drastic... besides, aside from its bugs I don't mind it. Quick edit has less options and no preview.

It's been off for about a week! So has the Pirate forum been slow for you?
-
Why borrow? Make your own. Afterall, isn't your stuff cool?

Jules Verne made stunning books. He had an incredible vision of the future, one that was mostly correct. He was wrong on most of the details, but considering the time they were written it was hardly surprising. I've lost count how many times I've read his books. H.G. Wells is similar as well, especially with War of the Worlds. I've been surprised at her recent interest in trashy romance manga; perhaps after almost ten years of marriage she's realised I'm not romantic enough. This is about 80% of them. Not an incredible amount, it's more that people just don't buy and keep books much these days. My dream is to have the classic room lined with books...

Do you have photos? From your describing it sounds more like a double-sided brick...

What an excellent review of a not-so-excellent set! I suspect you're right about TLGs motivation for this set... and the meanie in me hopes they regret it. I can't see this selling well at full price and it could hurt future Technic sales due to the wasted PTO. I missed the old version so I'll be aiming to get this on sale. I must confess I want the panels...

Indeed we are my Queen! In fact (said in an equally haughty tone) I don't know anyone who has a book collection rivaling mine. (Yes, mine not ours. ) I'll have to post photos one time... I used to be a heavy reader of all Sci-Fi and Fantasy... but I think I read too much while in the Navy as all the newer stuff seems too similar these days. Some books have stood out though. Like the woman I've read (several times) the Stephen Donaldson Gap series (highly recommended) and it was the most refreshing of the genre I've read for a while. However it's more of a story set in space rather than a true Sci-Fi. Same story with the Seafort Saga by David Feintuch... although it falls into similar patterns and becomes tiresome after the first few. I haven't read much fantasy for a while. The last author I read was Eddings... and I think it's scarred me. I was stuck on a (very boring) base for two weeks and I read his Belgariad and Malloreon series during that time, and I was so enthused that I read the Elenium and Tamuli series straight after. I then paused to think about them... and I realised how similar the two stories were! But I used to read a lot of fantasy. My favourite is an obscure book called Tark and the Golden Tide by Colum MacConnell. It's a quite stunning book... even though I've heard that it's a rip off of Fafhrd and the Gray Mouser. (Which I've never read.) While it's only a short book, it has enough story to make several and it has a way of describing things just enough that keeps the story moving. I'll have to look over books and post some more later... as well as look into a few of the suggestions here!

There's no need to pin a popular topic... and as I keep saying pinned topics are often ignored. Pinning is best for topics that are important but are not posted in much, like indexes. EB spirit? I thought we exorcised that?

Yep you got it. We're making so much money that I pay someone to put the heads on my minifigs.

LEGO Concorde is known as 346, Jumbo Jet

Are you sure there's ever been an official one? -
Cool MOC... but it sure ain't Star Wars! (I'm moving this.)
-
Very nice simple solution! I might use this in a future MOC! (I'm only slightly offended for being forgotten in the whole Toaster story... )
-
Yes, but it's disabled... and it'll stay that way too. Sorry.
-
The main point here is that EB focuses on LEGO. There are loads of sites that focus on Star Wars already and I don't see why we should try to compete with them. Isn't LEGO a broad enough topic already? Many other LEGO sites target a theme, style or country, but we aim to cover the lot. If we expand beyond that we risk losing our focus and I think that would be a mistake.

She must play Monopoly too.

You're fast; I just did it! He's not replacing anyone as such, but I'll be moving house and thus be around less for a few months. Thus you could say he's replacing me. (He's probably going to be a theme regulator; the global part is only temporary.... or so the plan goes. )

We're a LEGO site, and everything else is peripheral, thus it's in a separate forum. We have no desire to become a hub of pure Star Wars discussion.
