REVIEW: 8435 4WD
Siegfried replied to LordGalewind's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I wouldn't say that he was that bad. It's not his fault that I've been busy all day on EB and I've not been getting real work done because of it. But since he seems to be finished now I've added it as asked. I love it when that happens. I rated this as 4, but I don't own it. I'll have to try and replicate it. -
REVIEW: 8435 4WD

Oh, so I'm your bitch now? I'd rather wait until you've finished so we don't cross edit. -
Gladly.

I told you; I don't know. If it's happening it's a board issue. While the skins and templates of this site are heavily modified we haven't (as yet) modified the board software itself. Thus like the whole quick-edit-a-post-when-it's-the-last-in-a-topic-and-everything-is-doubled issue there's nothing we can do about it. For what it's worth we'll probably upgrade the board in the next few months.

Official Lego Military/War sets?

In accordance with our guidelines, the next mention of anything even vaguely political will result in this topic being closed. -
Product Recall of 8879 PF IR Speed Remote Control
Siegfried replied to ILikePi's topic in General LEGO Discussion
It'll come in some form. TLG have just removed it from the site to prevent a backlog. They have to provide a new remote in some form, but it could end up being very different to the current one.. and it may not be ready by August. Time will tell. -

Product Recall of 8879 PF IR Speed Remote Control
Siegfried replied to ILikePi's topic in General LEGO Discussion
There was already a topic on this so I've merged them. I hope you don't mind. Since this is an important issue (and one of TLGs rare recalls) I have frontpaged it as well. -
The 8879 Power Functions IR Speed Remote Control has been recalled from the U.S. and Canadian Market. For more details visit here and discuss it here. Thanks to ILikePi for reporting this.

Product Recall of 8879 PF IR Speed Remote Control
Siegfried replied to ILikePi's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Ahhh! That explains why it came and went so often. It looks like TLG rushed this a bit too much... and I'm very glad now that I didn't rush and buy that battery. Replacement on! -
Technic sets from 2009
Siegfried replied to legomilk's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
It does! Even so, if I was the designer I would have went for the winch over the outriggers; they aren't fully automatic anyway. As a guess, the line would have got twisted too much if it ran through the turntable and that's why it has a manual wind mounted on the arm. -
I think that's who he's talking about. I recall the word is that he made his predictions vague to prevent him being seen as talking with the devil... but I have the book in question and I think it's non-sense. My version was printed in the 80s with several forward predictions and loads of reverse "predictions". 25 years later I can now say that none of the predictions were correct...

Technic sets from 2009
Siegfried replied to legomilk's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Cool! He's rated it too high though. The video is very well done... and it makes me want the set... but overall the set loses points for the un-motorised winch. -
There's one that I made a while ago, but it's pretty old now. I've got more than twice the LEGO now...

Do you think they should make a Star Trek Theme
Siegfried replied to Go Cubs Go!'s topic in LEGO Sci-Fi
I added a poll... and voted no. Thanks! I love that line. -
...and that's why I created this topic! I'm sick of making the same post!

Yes, same story... You can try to do so with out orders, but if that doesn't help then bother us. "Steering" is the key word.

So I don't have to keep repeating myself, I'd like to remind everyone that the staff members (and Fellows in the Community forum) are the only members who should be reminding people of site rules. Posts like; You're going to get banned! I think you're a kid! ...are not wanted nor helpful. Most of the time it just annoys the member and makes everything worse. If you think someone is breaking site rules tell a staff member via PM or by using the "Report" button. One member being rude is not an excuse for you to be rude back. Also, if a moderator makes a request to a member it is not a call to arms for other members to join in. We step in if we feel someone is going too far, but kicking someone when they are down is just not on. Are there exclusions to this? Sort of. Feel free to help new members if they are unsure of the site or do common mistakes like posting 2600x2324 images. However, once the point has been made there is no need for a chorus of "Resize your images!". Just remember to offer help, not order. Feel free to reply to this if you're not clear. I won't bite.

While you may be right, please keep your opinions to yourself. Personally I think you're underaged, but I'll keep that a secret for now. Your chances aren't good.

8258 Crane Truck
Siegfried replied to Blakbird's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
You're a tease. I thought you had a review for me to drool over... -
I hate to admit it, but time travel probably isn't possible. How do I know this? It's simple; we're still around. If time travel was possible then some idiot from the future would have gone back and done something stupid like helping the T-Rex survive and history would have been changed. Even the idea of you-can-go-back-but-you-can't-change-anything makes no sense as they'd be some proof of it by now. For example when John Lennon was shot there would have been thousands of people hanging around waiting for it to happen... Have I shattered any universes with my opinion?

Could you give an example of what you have in mind?

Do you think they should make a Star Trek Theme
Siegfried replied to Go Cubs Go!'s topic in LEGO Sci-Fi
As a ex-Trekkie I've given this a lot of thought over the years, but I don't really think it'd work. Star Trek has always been odd in that small one-man ships are a rarity. I don't disagree with that future vision; in fact I think it's more likely, but it does make it hard to make a LEGO line based on the ships. On the other hand, Star Trek ships often look like they borrow parts from other ships, the Nebula-class is a good example; It looks like a modified Galaxy-class. Using this established trend you could have a Build-a-Federation-ship set that included several nacelle, dish and engineering hull designs that you could then mix-and-match! Do you have a date and/or scan of that?
