  1. If a moderator makes a request to a member it is not a call to arms for other members to join in. We step in if we feel someone is going too far, but kicking someone when they are down is just not on. While on the same topic, I wish people would stop accusing people of being underaged. Leave that to us... especially if you're underaged yourself. There's been too much mini-modding around lately. Mature. I think it's meant as an insult to "Shia LaBeouf". I think he's a horrid actor too...
  2. We have a mega topic on this issue here. I'll merge this topic later. The funny thing is you have... but probably not by choice. From what I've heard from other members (and what I've seen once myself) following external links such as ones from Google can alter this setting.
  3. Cool. Thanks for sharing. Since you're retired you're not going to care much about this topic so I'll close it. (I've seen a lot of these topics... and they never end good.)
  4. It's the 40th anniversary of the Apollo 11 Moon landing, the first time that humans have landed on another bit of floating rock. (Well, at least according to recorded history... ) EB members have been getting into the spirit of the event with MOCs and reviews. CopMike has made the classic footprint (it's inverted but since we love him it's OK), and the 10029 Lunar Lander set has been reviewed by mtMOClug and Holodoc.
  5. OK. You've said your opinion. We've said ours. I'm sick of this debate ruining this review. Please stop it now... and please stop telling people their opinions are wrong. It's just plain rude.
  6. Most of my Star Wars sets I bought for the set, not the figs. The only exclusions are Endor, 7659 Imperial Landing Craft... and obviously the battle packs.
  7. Nice logic! (BTW, I fixed your flag.)
  8. 7898. It's a great set and if I had the room I'd buy a second. The inclusion of both points is a huge plus in terms of layout; I bought an extra track pack as well as 7897 and I had more than I could handle! I did find that the wheels spun too easily, but I think that's more a traction issue. I must confess that the blue truck was a strong reason for me to want that set. (I loved the horn too. I hid the remote in my pocket one time when I was playing Monopoly and pressed the button whenever someone landed on a railroad! ) Disclaimer: I don't own any 9V trains, so I can't do a true comparison.
  9. While the extra box size does help protect the pieces (and damage the instructions), I'm pretty sure it's so they can show a 1:1 image of the set on the cover. Some sets, especially the Monster Dino, have been under half full because of this... I always judge by weight anyway.
  10. No they won't; the staff have already discussed this topic! It's a nice MOC too... but I must confess that I missed most of the 5th Doctor episodes. I missed most of the 5th and 6th, and didn't start watching them until the 7th and last Doctor.
  11. Indeed it does! (Only real Licences go in the Licenced Forum. )
  12. Indeed they are! Thanks CopMike! I often did the same with LEGO containers; ships and trucks just for one box!
  13. Attitudes like that might bite you in the bum one day. In the unlikely event that Macs become popular you'll get a lot more than test viruses and you'll be wishing you listened to Sieggy... Recent hacking contests have proven that Macs are more vulnerable that Windows, especially to social engineering exploits which can look a lot like the link you just clicked. They'd all be the same file.
  14. jansued has done a review of the new Modular Building, 10197 Fire Brigade. Find the review here!
  15. Great review! I bought this set (on slight sale) for parts, but I liked it more that I thought I would. The transmission really makes this model. It's a quite good looking technic truck, and I think one of the best mid-sized Technic sets.
  16. I've got them all! First off, they are all expensive and arguably overpriced so I won't get into that. AT-OT AT-OT is better than I expected, and the Dropship is very accurate. Hyena Aside from the droids it's nothing special. I only bought it as I needed a third set in buy three get one free deal! Endor It's a great completist set as it includes many rare/new figs. The bunker is surprisingly good and the AT-ST is stunningly accurate.
  17. I love Homeworld and that's wonderful! Homeworld had a very distinctive style about it. It's a 3D RTS game.
  18. Tung T. Le has done a great review of the 8169 Lamborghini Gallardo set. Find it here.
  19. I love this set! It's wondefully done and instantly recognisable. Do you have more photos? Considering your good timing I was considering frontpaging this yesterday but it seemed silly to frontpage the story but have little more to see in the full post... Indeed. They went to so much effort to fake it all to; including building a secret probe for each launch that went there at the same time and left behind radar beacons and other stuff that can be seen via telescopes today...
  20. Actually I think it's not a Eurobricks thing; it's simply that people buy sets because they want them, and thus rate them high! I do it all the time, but I do try to point out flaws at the same time so others can form their own opinion. As of late though I've got better at being objective; I was quite harsh in my last review as I gave 6/10. But I don't think I'd ever do a review of anything lower than 5 as if I thought it was that bad I wouldn't have it to review! (Personally I'd give this set 7/10; I think it looks great and I liked the whole arm function.)
  21. OK Well you're entitled to your opinion. I'm not a big Bionicle fan, but I think it's OK for parts sometimes. But... 1. Lame minifigs People in glass houses shouldn't throw stones. Now that is lame. 2. Story Bionicle has as much story as Days of our Lives. Any story that is made up as it goes along has zero appeal to me.
  22. Actually it was more targeted to Striker™; he's made 10% of the posts in the archive thead which is quite impressive since he only just got a title. I was trying to prevent a encore performance... It's OK to talk about your titles here... even Striker™ is welcome to! ... but in moderation.
  23. That's what I'm expecting... but I'll keep checking just the same! Yeah... I saw those in my local Toyworld and it didn't occur to me that I do want more tan Fendoras! I should get one!
  24. Errr....
  25. 8421 has six wheel steering and is a much heavier model, yet it's a smooth and light as a babys butt. I stand by my point. I'm considering modifying it so it has a more traditional steering sytem so I can work out why TLG didn't...
