Any estimates as to the value of this lot?
MKJoshA replied to BrickArtist's topic in Buy, Sell, Trade and Finds
I'd be happy to take the whole lot off your hands for $20... Though it's actually worth somewhere between $60-$100 depending on who's buying when you list. Are these all the figures you had listed for trade for SW minifigs? I'd be very interested in some of them. I'll PM you about it. -
See the previous tales: Wyndor's Saga Chapter 1 Part 1: A Tragic Beginning Part 2: A Rude Awakening Part 3 Intro: An Evil Plot Part 3: A Timely Friend Part 4: Over the course of a couple days Wyndor and Steiner made their way through Nocturnus, dogging Black Spire Soldiers and those loyal to Lord Ssilyrrlith alike. Wyndor did not want to get involved in the civil war; he had enough to worry about as it was. They followed the rumors of Mitgardians seen moving, or being led, south to a church just south of Port Wrath. “I do not like the look of this place Sir Wyndor,” Steiner said, “It has an evil air about it. **muttering under his breath: and I would rather not be here!**” “Most of Nocturnus has an evil air about it Steiner,” Wyndor replied, “But that does not make everything here evil. You have to judge the heart to know if it is truly evil. Many of the people we’ve meet so far have been twisted, but not necessarily evil.” As they approached the church they heard some chanting from inside. “Quick Wyndor! I know that speech **muttering under his breath: and all it’s vileness**. It is the chanting of the Denizens of Darkness and no good can come of it!” Steiner yelled. Wyndor was the first to reach the door and as he reached for the handle he was thrown back. Steiner shouted: “Look out Wyndor! **muttering under his breath: mayhaps I should have said that earlier** These guards do not mean us well!” Steiner and Wyndor made quick work of the Denizen guards and once more attempted to enter the church. The chanting reached a new level of intensity and the two Mitgardians heard a loud *pop*! Steiner glanced up and said, “Quick friend, go stop whatever madness is happening inside, I’ll take care of this **muttering under his breath: that is, if I live through it**” Wyndor didn’t take time to find out what had Steiner so worried, he just rushed towards the chanting. “Foul beast, no matter what your heart might say I know you are up to no good and do not mean me well. Let us decide this here and now! **muttering under his breath: huyah!**” Steiner yelled. Inside, Wyndor was reunited with his brother Natolyth. However, the reunion was not one Wyndor could have ever dreamed of. He saw his brother accompanied by a sorceress in the middle of an incantation. “Cuiva nwalca carnirassë! Nai yarvaxëa rasselya taltuva ñotto-carinnar!” Edea chanted. Wyndor tried to cut the sorceress down but Natolyth blocked his blow with his staff. Wyndor thought to himself. “I don’t want to fight my own brother, but neither can I allow this spell to continue.” “What madness has overtaken you?” Wyndor asked. Natolyth just stared at him with a blank look in his eyes and began to attack. Torn over what to do Wyndor continued to strike at his brother, always being careful not to harm him. He maneuvered the battle so that he was near Edea. Natolyth swung and Wyndor ducked and kicked, sending his brother flying across the floor. With his next breath Wyndor turned and stabbed at Edea. At that moment she snapped out of what had seemed to be a trance and turned her staff on Wyndor. He found himself wrapped in flame, helpless to move. The next thing he knew Edea was on the floor with Natolyth standing over her. “I’ve wanted to do that for weeks.” Natolyth said. “This is Edea, a witch of the Denizens of Darkness, and I have been her slave against my will.” Just then, Steiner stumbled in. “I’ve killed the monster! **muttering under his breath: that fould beast!**” He said, and then fell over. Blood pooled underneath him. “He is grievously wounded!” Wyndor stated as he knelt next to Steiner. “Here,” Said Natolyth, “Thanks to Edea’s control of my body and mind I know how to heal his wounds I think.” Before Wyndor could question his brother he began chanting: “Telin le thaed. Lasto beth nîn, tolo dan nan galad.” As he finished chanting Steiner bolted straight up, the blood now gone from his side. “Woah!” He shouted. And with that Natolyth fell over, unconscious. Totally agree! I don't think they'll make a treebeard set. The ent they made already looks close enough. And all we would get minifig wise would be minifigs we already have.

Same here! Just give me a small wall section with a few Gondorian soldiers!

Wow, looks like the Black Spire won in terms of number of builds. I was placed on the side of the Black Spire, but I'm secretly rooting for Nocturnus "shhhh" -
Set Restoration: Original (vintage) or new parts?
MKJoshA replied to Yoshi648's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Being a part of a family of 4 boys meant our pieces went through some wear and tear. I was looking through our old collection for some pieces to take for my collection this last Christmas and noticed how worn all the pieces looked. This is mostly due to us keeping our collection in a couple large boxes. We hardly ever organized so finding a piece meant digging throught the boxes. I'm sure most AFOLs know what this is like What I had never noticed before was how much this beat up all our pieces. Even the most simple of bricks look really worn. The pieces that took the worst beating were the bushes. I found a round green piece in my searching and tried to figure out what it was from when I realized it used to be a bush, but all the spines had broken off! -
Book II - Mitgardia: Guild sign-up and Discussion

Ai! The anticipation is already building! -
If someone (and I'd be willing to volunteer) put together a short bio on each planet open for the contest then no one would have to have read any of the books. I'm not saying characters or specific cities from the EU have to be represented. Most of the planets I mentioned are referenced in the movies even if they aren't shown.

Book II - Kaliphlin: Guild sign-up and Discussion
MKJoshA replied to SkaForHire's topic in Guilds of Historica
Nah, I'd rather have a mouth full of snow over a mouth full of sand any day. -
Random thought I just had while reading a EU Star Wars book. What if we had a building challenge of scenery, buildings, and landscape on different Star Wars planets? We could take planets like Corellia, Felucia, Ord Mantell, Bothuwai, Dantooine, Kuat, Commenor, Hapes, etc. This would allow for some variety in the builds beyond ships and corridors. It would certainly have to go beyond what's seen in the movies though. What does everyone else think?

Osgiliath would be nice though. I hope that one comes true.

Book II - Kaliphlin: Guild sign-up and Discussion
MKJoshA replied to SkaForHire's topic in Guilds of Historica
Well, then I will stubbornly NOT stick to myself. How does that fit? Watch out! I said I'd be looking, not moving! -
Which is all the better I think. I mean really? A $15 mirror set? Not exactly top on my "want list" or on many kids lists. I'll say it again. Gondor. Gondor. Gondor!

You're going to get this a lot, but let me say it first: "Cute sheep!"

Book II - Kaliphlin: Guild sign-up and Discussion

Yes, and great action at that! But surely it's not wrong for me to look on the other side of the fence every now and then? -
Freebuild: Nocturnus: Torence's House
MKJoshA replied to The Architect's topic in Guilds of Historica
So many weapons packed into one room! I love the interior. Great detail. The outside is nothing special, but in time I'm sure your skills will improve in that area -
My favorite is Rafstin. Love the use of the LOTR torso! I have a couple questions about parts. Where is Raban's armor from? He's the one with the dark blue/purple armor. And, what minifig is Methusealeh's head piece from?

Set Restoration: Original (vintage) or new parts?
MKJoshA replied to Yoshi648's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I agree with Deathleech. As long as it's the exact same piece, it won't make a difference and I don't think you have to mention it. The only exception would be if all the pieces looked older or slightly played with except for the one you replaced. Then it would be obvious what you had done and should be mentioned to any potential buyers. -
Ooo, exciting!

When will that be?

Book II - Avalonia: Guild sign-up and Discussion
MKJoshA replied to Rogue Angel's topic in Guilds of Historica
Be prepared, and be nice to those of us who will be building in your fair country who may not have too much experience building with mass quantities of greenery. Thankfully you have lots of variety in Avalonia for those of us who may not have lots of greenery -
Feels just like somewhere I'd see in Chicago. Nice build!

Maybe I missed something along the way, but last I heard I thought we were still hoping that the rumors were true for the Mirror of Galadriel, Amon Hen Ambush, Witch King Attack, Osgiliath sets. If the rumors are true aren't those supposed to come out this year?
