  1. I sure would have a hard time giving out business cards if I'd be a TLG employee. I mean, who would give away minifigs?
  2. Yeah, you have some really great classic sets in Town, Pirates, and Castle (Forestmen, Wolf Pack). Anyway, welcome back to the greatest hobby and welcome to Eurobricks!

    Hello

Naaah, there were quite a few Dutchies who won as well
  4. In my view, yellow as THE skin tone has the advantage that it is not really representative of any race's skin tone (it's way too bright to represent Asians for example). Therefore, I do not see why yellow would be reflecting Western middle class. In the adventurers' line, yellow was being used for people from Egypt, India, China, etc. In those cases, they take their identity from their facial features, clothing, and accessories. This has a second big advantage: you can use the minifig pieces in many more different ways, which is what Lego is all about.
  5. That engine - although it looks really good - is a bit too big for my taste, but I'm really looking forward to your progress on that fire station.
  6. That's sweeeeeeeet. But, I'm afraid it's going to be more expensive... You'll need all the Power Functions products listed. But better wait for some real Train-heads to come along here. Maybe someone knows of a cost-effective way... And... 'legos' is not the plural form of Lego (there is none).
  7. Great work! The landscaping is great with that little 'garden' and the sandy path in the rock. The interior looks wonderful as well, just like the brick-built canon. The gold and white work really well together and there's just something irresistible about those doors in green. The Armada color scheme really warranted a full fortress.
  8. It indeed resembles the truck from the construction site, but it works really well for a tug. The proportions indeed look good. Nice job.
  9. Cutlass Iz will be thrilled.
  10. Looks like you cleaned up for the occasion. I like that you're commenting quite frequently lately. I hope that's not just because of the 'appreciation week', or you'll force us to have a 'Jamie Berard appreciation year'.
  11. Yaaar, welcome aboard. Hope your name isn't too descriptive of your Lego collection.
  12. Right, this takes up way too much space and doesn't look varied enough for my taste. I'd indeed much rather spend the money on getting one of each modular.
  13. That's kind of remarkable that now - apparently - TLG has two different molds in use for skeletons. Or would they completely resort back to the old mold, now that the Castle 'Fantasy Era' is over? Bribery usually does the trick
  14. That's what I was considering doing with my handful of flesh figs.
  15. I personally just don't like explicit depictions of violence, war, and sexual activity with Lego bricks. I am not at all 'offended' by them, I just don't like them. I understand there's lots of people who like building the bloodiest battle scenes possible. I don't like those MOCs, because it easily becomes the focal point of the whole MOC. That's why - for example - I liked this year's edition of the PTV contest so much: it really stimulated creativity. I wouldn't argue in favor of removing certain images, but it certainly makes this place more fun for me (personally) when the mods do. Problem with removing certain images, is that you get into debates about what is (violence?) and what isn't allowed (sexual activity?), but I'll gladly leave those decisions to the mods. Either way is fine with me. You could always consider
  16. Anything but wearing a red uniform...

    MOC: Love Street

I do. I particularly like the gray/tan building, because it's architecturally a bit more interesting than the other building, although the dark red is a nice accent color for the other building.
  18. This looks way better than what you initially posted here. I really like the way you've broken up the blue sides

    Hello

We have enough Swedes, sorry! Naaah, welcome to Eurobricks, we can never have too many Europeans. Your english is fine, no need to worry about that.
  20. Why would they throw that beam in? To prevent the package from getting crushed too much? I too have had nothing but positive experiences with TLG's customer service. Good to hear things turned out ok in the end.
  21. I also started using Paint.NET instead of The Gimp because I found it much easier to use. But I definitely don't use it intensively, so I wouldn't be the one to ask about the pros and cons of the various programs. Most of the time I now use it to do some really simple image editing for the classic-town.net blog (bit of shameless promotion here ).
  22. Eehm, you can test all these BBcodes by pressing the Preview button instead of the Post button when you type a post (don't we have a testing thread somewhere?). Plus there's examples on the page I linked to earlier.
  23. I get a somehow awkward feeling when I see MOCs/displays combining both. But that could be due to me not being particularly fond of fleshies. It's mainly because fleshies in all their realistic skin tones are supposed to represent different races, whereas yellow figs are not referring to any particular race. I mean, they don't look 'Asian' or 'Caucasian' next to fleshies. The fact that classic yellow figs are (intentionally) 'race-neutral' is one of the things I like about them ( FTW!). But I do understand that TLG wants to make licensed movie-themes as realistic as possible.
  24. Ah... I remember this one. It looks much rounder than (what I remember of) the first version. The wedges make a nice round orange shape and the door is really well designed... nice little MOC Bobby!
  25. Thanks def for bringing this up. I had seen most of the pictures somewhere already. Those large knights are great!
