  1. Agreed, simple yellow trailer. It doesn't take a genius to combine that with a yellow truck. Besides TLG's design has opening side doors as a distinctive feature, which yours doesn't have.

    City 2010

30010 wasn't know (to me) yet. See it as a summary
  3. I open the 'thumb-punch' (never heard that term before) boxes with a knife most of the time. I (try to) cut through the glue to preserve the full backside of the box. My favorite modern boxes are the sturdy ones with the little plastic seals (because they're so easy to flatten and are sturdy). Nothing beats the old boxes of 'big sets' with the big flap on the front though. But I guess it's also good to not have to expensive and environmentally unfriendly (lots of plastic) packaging.
  4. Nice minifigs you created. The new shakos go pretty well with the old firemen torsos. TPRU's suggestion seems good too (if you have the torso of course).
  5. Yeah both are 32 x 32.
  6. Thanks for starting this Hickley: a really nice idea for a topic. I'm looking forward to hearing everyone's opinion on this. It really gets you thinking about why your favorite theme is your favorite theme... I know that Town has always - already as a kid - been my favorite theme. I think it's the realism that you can achieve that attracts me to it, that you can build your own little world while taking inspiration from everything around you. Trying to capture essential real-world features of a building, a car, a truck, etc. and abstracting away from the less important details, on a much smaller scale is the ultimate challenge I guess. I'm also really glad I'm an AFOL now that TLG releases the realistic modular buildings (which I consider to be part of Town) and I can luckily afford to buy them. Buildings like these were always kind of dream when I was a kid, but these sets would almost certainly have been out of reach for me...
  7. I'm not a plane expert, but this looks very nice. Nice job.
  8. Thought I was the only one who was always picky about this, so I thought I wouldn't mention it. Just like the new millennium that didn't start on January 1, 2000 However, hard to pick a favorite. Cafe Corner was definitely the most important set, because it started the brilliant line of modular houses. Green Grocer is my favorite modular so far. Town Plan and City Corner are some of the best traditional town sets. I guess I just can't choose.
  9. I was expecting a complete separation already when the Trains (sub)forum was introduced. So do we only have sub-MOC fora now (like the Pirates MOC subforum or Watto's junkyard)? However: I wonder if Town will still be the number 1 forum this year... it must be a Pirates or Star Wars conspiracy. They must have persuaded the staff to seperate the fora, because Trains and Town was getting too mighty. Seems like the Shadows bug is spreading fast
  10. Welcome back and Happy New Year WhiteFang!
  11. Nice display again TheBrickster. I also like the small ruins with the canon you have added.

Glad my presence is appreciated Boer indeed means 'Farmer'. But it also means *burp* in Dutch, funnily enough. Now that would make an interesting impulse set.
  13. Nice MOD. The attachment of the chains is pretty clever (and simple!) indeed.
  14. Welkom/Welcome to Eurobricks... enjoy!
  15. Thanks for frontpaging this thread KimT Shadows. (because SW is a forum I don't frequent) and KimT for creating the handy gallery. There are really some talented artists active here. My favorite designs are the cartoony ones, especially those involving female characters Evil Santa is really cool too, although Ms. Santa's helper could do with some more curves here and there...
  16. Wow, Daniel, these are two of your best MOCs yet. The texture around the entrance of the Arabian Farm is brilliant and the use of the silver fire helmet is pretty ingenious too. As others have said: all the architectural details on the cathedral are jaw-breaking. Brilliance! Should I congratulate you now or wait for the official results?
  17. Nice, really colorful.
  18. Very creative. It would have been even better if you'd be able to make the digits out of Lego (but that would be difficult at this scale).
  19. Nice cottage! I really like the textured roof and walls and all the little details inside and outside. Nice work. So this is the medieval version of the Apple Tree House? And... I'm also really liking the jack-in-the-boxes a lot of the staff and fellows have as their avatars now (Svelte has been busy? ).
  20. Congratulations! My two favorite fora ranked 1st and 2nd (Trains & Town and Pirates). Thanks for your share in moderating the forum, but also thanks to all the other 'townies', both staff and other EB members!
  21. Congratulations TheOtters!
  22. Nice work on the bear. The posing of the bear on the last picture is really brilliant.
  23. If I recall correctly, in the instructions of my 4025 Fire Boat, it said not to put it in water hotter than 40 degrees Celsius. Edit: I recalled correctly
  24. Indeed, the standard 6-wide vehicle base severely reduces the flexibility you have, so it may be best to get rid of it altogether. Besides the rear axle, I think you could also move the front axle one stud backward. And, as Ralph suggests, you might want to try to double the cab (although that depends on the look and type of vehicle you're aiming for) and to store as much equipment as possible within the compartments instead of 'clipped' onto the sides of the truck. Furthermore, whereas the 'cupboard' (the 2 x 2 x 3 piece) can be pretty well used as a compartment for a (fire) truck, I think the 'postbox' (the 2 x 2 x 2 piece) tends to break the lines on the truck too much because the 'lid' sticks out half a stud. Finally, I'm surprised Ralph hasn't brought is up , you could try to 'separate' the back from the cab to make it look less bulky (this is particularly an issue when you decide to extend the truck). From what I learned from Ralph (among others) there are basically two ways to achieve that: separate the cab from the back by (half) a stud and/or make the back 7-wide. But this definitely would require you to drop the standard vehicle base.
  25. ... and we still don't seem to have learned anything from it...
