I trust every word you write.
To answer your question: One gets up from his chair, walks to the fridge, takes a nice cold beer, sits down again behind the computer, takes a sip, and writes something on a non-existing sub-forum of Eurobricks.
Must have been a very special experience opening such an 'old' set. I'm never that lucky to find really old sets. I guess there are too many AFOLs around here. Also Lego doesn't tend to stay on the shelves for very long here in The Netherlands and quickly gets discounted if it sits around for too long.
When I first saw the set name City House I immediately had a remake of 6374 in mind. Although it would be nice to see a urban house, I'm still guessing it will be a suburban style house.
lightingtiger, do you just have confirmation from one of your sources that the TRU exclusive (8404) is going to be the truck stop? Do you already have any more info/details (keep bugging those sources )?
Another WhateverOwl classic. The idea to make docks with doors works brilliantly here. Those little stairs leading up to the tower are a really nice touch, so is the roof with the fish drying, and I just keep loving that water technique with the wizard's hat. Those green Armada doors are really standing out, ... and so is one very filthy little 1 x 2 brick
edit: Oh and I even forgot to mention the rock formation on which the building is built, with the really nicely integrated vegetation. Those palm trees look really 'natural'.
An Imperial island of this size - 'Sabre Island'-size - was really missing from the 2009 Pirates line-up. Hope we'll see a follow-up with nice modular attachments to Soldiers' Fort in 2011... Nice work!
This is an amazing piece of work. The color scheme on the tudor style building is really nice, and so are the sediment layers in the rock. The only thing I dislike is the plates used to cover up the side of the stone (I realize it's inherent to the SNOT construction you employed). Doesn't the fact that you've turned it into a modern-day tourist attraction make it belong in the Town forum instead of Historic themes?
I guess what is said above is correct: TRU 'paid for'/gets an exclusive branded TRU truck which is the same/similar to the yellow Lego truck coming out this summer.
If I recall correctly, the price for 7848 was too low for it to be the TRU exclusive, but the price for 8404 was higher, so that is supposed to be the yet unrevealed TRU exclusive.
Nice MOD/MOC. It was already big, but now it's getting close to huge. Nevertheless, it's really space inside, while the outside looks much more varied.
I'd say the World City police line was the first to introduce six-wide into mainstream 'Town', with the armored car and the communication truck. The riot vehicle in the police station set was even 8 wide.
The lack of a back window is one of the things that bugs me a little about the car, so this is a nice MOD. Now go and add proper tail lights instead of only a big break light
