  1. The pink together with the pic of a window on the front page reminds me of the assassination of JFK. Is that goinf to be poor Ackbar's fate?
  2. So the previous pics with minifigs were fakes?
  3. Did you consider the possibility - given that there are many 'old' not-updated themes represented in the game - that the game was designed before the 2009 Pirates line came out and that the original idea was to include blue coats in the new sets, but that this was later changed to red in the sets but not in the game? The governor has the same torso in the game and the sets. If a line of blue coats was to be released, wouldn't they also change the blue coats governor's torso? I'd really like a new line of blue coats, because I think the color scheme as seen in the game looks much better than the red coats that are in the Pirate sets now.
  4. My main objection against the grey change of a few years back was compatibility. Don't get me started on mixing yellow and flesh tone minifigs. Furthermore, minifigs are the 'face' of Lego System and just ARE yellow. To me - and I think to many - it is one of the defining characteristics of the minifig and it's been like that for over 30 years (!) now.
  5. It seems the selection of captains was based on their pirate captain hats, because not all of them have been in command of one of the big pirate ships (in fact only Red Beard and Brick Beard have). I was browsing through BL's list of Pirate (I) minifigs and was wondering if this pirate should be added to the poll as well? Not that he's me favorite (I don't particularly like the Armada sets), since that can be no other but Red Beard himself (aaarrr mate). EDIT: I'm sorry I didn't look at the previous posts carefully! Here's some inspiration: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Spanish_pirates http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Portuguese_pirates

    MOC: Cars

Nice cars, proportions are just right
  7. Classic Yellow FTW! I like that classic yellow minifigs are race-less so that kids around the world can identify with them. Producing flesh and yellow minifigs together goes against the mixing-and-matching across different themes, because they just don't look good together. I can personally understand LEGO's reasons for switching to fleshies for licensed themes, because it looks a little weird to have actors from different races being represented by the same yellow skin tone, but than again I don't think it would be necessary, because LEGO is all about imagination and kids especially are really good at that. Personally I don't buy licensed themes because of the fleshies and because they're overpriced, so as long as LEGO sticks to fleshies for licensed themes, I can live with that. I do have a couple of fleshies from a Spiderman set that I bought rather cheap for parts. I don't know what to do with the figs from that set: I'm considering using them as window dummies for a store. DON'T EVER SWITCH TO FLESHIES FOR YOUR 'OWN' THEMES LEGO! (did I say please? )
  8. If you're talking about the spider's eyes in 3837 Monsters 4, I just see a 1 x 1 round plate with a hollow stud there (which IS a new part)... or am I missing something?

Thanks! Thanks, I also really like it... it's from one of the signs in 8401.
  10. Helicopter is nice, but - like more people - I'm really curious about that HQ. It looks like you really stuck to the theme's design with it (the helicopter also fits in perfectly). I agree with the comments about the 'heavy' tail and the yellow accents.
  11. Are you just going to keep the voting open until one of the two beats Hinckley, or what's the idea?
  12. This two-year old post sums up my thoughts exactly...
  13. Nice display, I'm a big fan of the modular buildings... not afraid of dust and yellowing?

I'll behave captain I'm a bluecoat fan too, mainly because I don't own any redcoats and a whopping 10 bluecoats only. I guess I only noticed that it was a good habit around here to introduce yourself after I started posting. Then I decided to wait until my first 'milestone' (50 posts ) to introduce myself. Furthermore, it isn't that interesting what I have to tell about myself. I don't own any trains and I'm not a big train fan (yet?), but I'm keeping my fingers crossed for a tram or monorail in 2010. Thanks guys
  15. I don't like fleshies ( FTW!) and licenses seem to drive up the price/piece ratio significantly...
  16. This is just gonna be nit-picking, but it looks just a little too wide for how tall it is. I would have preferred an additional floor.
  17. I do line up logo's sometimes ... and I always make sure the injection points don't face outward or are covered by other bricks as much as possible.
  18. I think it's more the lack of time that people (including kids) seem to have. Easier (less pieces to add per step) = faster. Same reason why they have numbered bags for relatively small sets (7686 has two bags just for the truck and another one for the trailer) and why they emphasize 'easy build, instant play' (or something like that) on the boxes.

Same thought here... Same thought here again...
  20. Isn't it a limited-by-the-pieces-available-gas-pump?
  21. I think indeed it indeed is a matter of proportions. Most of the real-world firehouses that have been posted here have an additional second (EU)/third (US) floor. And I have the feeling they're a little narrower. Although 16-wide would probably have not been wide enough for this building, perhaps they should have tried 20-something wide with a small building or some 'street decoration' to fill up the remaining studs (to 32). As I've also said before, I cant really see where they left 2200+ elements in this one. Also I agree with svelte_corps on the interior detailing. There are so many little things that could have been done to slightly improve it here and there. Showers, beds, a table to go with the couch, general finishing (like the railings mentioned)... i think all of this could have been implemented while maintaining the same dimensions and not raising the piece-count too much. Furthermore, I'm a little disappointed by the 'helmet decorations' on the exterior. A round shape around the helmet would have looked much better... again without raising the piece-count too much... I'll say it again... we're spoiled...
  22. I already saw it on Brickshelf over the weekend. I still prefer 6 or 7 wide for minifig-scale, but that's just a matter of taste I suppose. It looks very realistic and I'm impressed by how you managed to store all the equipment inside. I especially like the racks that slide out.
  23. I remember that the space taken up by the "?" on the Emerald Night video was more than 32 studs wide. Could there be a 16 wide Modular Building coming up that was sitting next to 10197 in that video or would it just be 10199 - for example - alongside 10197 in that video?
  24. Let me put my 50th post on this forum to some good use... My name is Rick and I'm from the Netherlands. I've been a member of Dutch LUG LowLUG since 2003. I'm a big fan of Town and I love the Modular Buildings range. I'm not a very active poster, but I'm mainly active in the Trains & Town forum. I normally just register on fora under my real first name (Rick), but that name was taken on Eurobricks - by a guy with 0 posts! - so I decided to append it with my year of birth (1977). EDIT: Thanks to Bonaparte I got my preferred username 'Rick'...
  25. That's one of the characteristics of all CC-style buildings, Market Street not included, as that is seen as a 'Factory' set by LEGO.
