  1. Howdy folks, I'm Alan Simmons your friendly farmer, local provider of healthy fruit and veggies! As I always said, an apple a day keeps the commies away. So here you go, I've brought a basket of apples from my orchard, dig in!
  2. I was looking for a bit of advice... I am trying to get both pictures in my signature to appear the same size. I know I could just resize the original picture, post it on my Flicker and link to it, but I was trying to do it the lazy way and use BB Code tags like this: [img width="100" height="100"]http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/Bobman123/RedScareMystery/Avatars/farmer.jpg[/img] But it would seem that the width and height tags are not supported here? Or am I doing something wrong?
  3. Would anyone be so kind to post pictures of the back of a couple of those bags? Maybe we can spot something that will help telling the minifigs apart.
  4. Nice find! This photo shows quite clearly that the elf ears are part of the wig, painted yellow! And there's a quite funny face under that gorilla costume!
  5. It can still be found here!
  6. See that?! He already started MOCing you!
  7. Ok so are we talking of this ship?
  8. Yes, but aren't the rules a bit restrictive?
  9. Yeah, I know that in terms of part numbers all parts are new, but you're splitting hair now. It's hard to argue that these parts for example are truly different, functionally and aesthetically: or If there is any dimensional difference, I doubt that it was even intended in the first place. And aside from the part number -- when it's even present on the mould -- I would be hard pressed to tell them apart (assuming the colour is the same, of course). To most people, introducing new part numbers is not much of an improvement in terms of part selection. Anyway, why I brought up the subject was that at some point before Series 1 was released, there was a general(?) consensus in the community -- apparently based on official word from TLG -- that the prints and accessories introduced in the collectible series would not be brought back in normal sets. Also, some people seem to feel that the reuse of accessories from previous minifig series is detrimental to the quality and variety of the upcoming series -- again, while many accessories and parts are reused, it would seem that there are plenty of original moulds (as opposed to retooled moulds) introduced nevertheless in each new series.
  10. Don't forget Harry Potter's The Burrow set. I'm sure that TLG will come up with a "Zombie Viking Farm Invasion" theme in a couple of years as a follow up to NinjaGo that will reintroduce all those nice farm animal moulds!
  11. Well, too bad you can't plan a special event for your 1000th minifig considering that...
  12. There probably was a list drawn up somewhere with all the new accessories/parts in Series 1 and 2, but I can't find it right now. But as far as I can tell, there were roughly 12 new parts in Series 1 (not including new prints, just the moulds), perhaps 17 in Series 2 and about 12 in Series 3. Even if some parts from previous Series are reused and/or recoloured, it's quite likely that we will keep getting a good dose of new moulds in every future series just to keep things fresh. And since I'm not the collector type, I'm quite happy to see some of the 'exclusive' new parts being reused in normal and licensed sets. I always thought it would be a shame to have all those great new parts removed from the catalogue once the collectible minifigs stocks are exhausted. Or having to introduce two different parts to represent the same accessory just because the previous was 'exclusive'.
  13. Well these days pretty much every theme is action-oriented, and we already have in 2011 an Action/Historical theme (Pharaoh's Quest), an Action/Underwater theme (Atlantis), and an Action/Fantastic theme (NinjaGo)... Considering the theme (space invasion?), the protagonists (soldiers and aliens) and the age group requirements, I feel this will be an action-packed variation on Space Police -- replace the policemen with soldiers and the alien criminals with alien invaders. What I hope for though are some futuristic Earth buildings, if Earth is the target of the invasion. That would be something never attempted by TLG before, as their Space sets were always based... well... in space!
  14. AT-AT 8000 pieces? B-Wing 3000 pieces? You really should check Brickset for accurate part counts!

  16. Let's see what this guy is made of. Vote: Dick Dillard / def
  17. Yeah, this is supposed to be a cake! Happy birthday Zepher!
  18. What a bloody night! Shaun Dows is gone and his bad influence won't be missed. But I'm afraid that those who voted Stash yesterday finally got their way, sneakily. Is there a killer among them? And did Stash really tell the truth about the vests and how his death would inactivate them? It would seem that Mr. Mann is still protected, or is it not a vest that he wears? So many questions, and so few answers!
  19. I would love to join too! I don't have Mystery experience here, I only played Mafia games (Prince of Persia, Village of the Bloody Damned and Eurodina) but I did read Red Moon in order to educate myself! Being born in a country on the wrong side of the Iron Curtain, I do have some first hand experience of communism, and the cold war. So I know my way around the eastern (mega)bloc!
  20. I've updated the first post with the new pics.
  21. +1 to WhiteFang as well for a very smooth trade! Thanks!
  22. Oh? You had a cosmic message about vests? Do you happen to wear one yourself?
  23. Certainly, it was confirmed at Brickfair by Steve Witt, the LEGO (ex-?)Community Relations Coordinator.
  24. No, excluding Chekov!
  25. I wouldn't really call it a choice, as the option will still be open in the future. It has more to do about priorities, and our choice went with what looked like the most pressing problem.
