Thanks for the link legomilk! The log cabin does not look as elaborate as past Creator houses, BUT! It includes a minifig, so it's probably designed to be easily dropped in a City layout! This sounds like great news, but it could also mean that Creator prices will increase as a result of using more specialised parts and accessories, not to mention the minifigs. It will also take away from the Creator line 'miniland'-like quality, in that everything was brick-built and used only simple pieces. Interesting development! Now the line between City, Creator and Modular is getting blurrier by the minute. Is it a good or bad thing?

Eurobricks Collectable LEGO Minifigures Series 2 Building Contest
Fugazi replied to WhiteFang's topic in Special LEGO Themes
The crowd is extatic! They have been waiting for this show for ages! This is THE band of the moment, and this is THE show of the year! But the hour is growing late, the crowd is restless! Come on guys, show up it's time to rock the place! Where is the band? Well, they're backstage... unwinding before the show! The cop is shackled to the pole, while the american native is whipping him into submission! Note: Any resemblance to existing current or past bands is completely not fortuitous. -
I need to have a talk with my dealer, he definitely overcharges me for a gram...

When and what will the next themed month be?
Fugazi replied to Joey Lock's topic in Forum Information and Help
This is a surprise indeed! The new banner and colour scheme are looking good, perfect for the season! (in the Northern hemishphere, of course ) -
Interesting analysis. As other mentioned, the P2P ratio does not tell everything about a set, but still it's interesting to compare. If you wanted to build an even more accurate model by including the devaluation of the dollar over the last 12 years (a dollar 12 years ago bought more stuff than a dollar today), you would probably obtain an even better ratio for the recent years. But don't ask me how to compute that!

So it's basically the Ramses Pyramid game, but as a theme! No wonder there's a Ramses Return game planned for 2011!
-
Hmm well same old same old, it would seem... But I'm sorry to say that these pics are branded 'confidential', I don't think we're allowed to post them here as per EB's policy.

A few more details from Jan (Quex) on 1000steine.de:

Fabulous MOC Blake Baer, this is beautiful work! I love the complex shape of the fortifications, and the slew of special effects (smoke, water, fire) that you included in your MOC! Very interesting that you chose to depict half a ship, it certainly saves a lot of parts! This is a great way to start here on Eurobricks, welcome! Looking forward to see more from your Tribute to America series.

This is the information we have so far, from a post by Quex on 1000steinne.de, and from detailed descriptions shared in this thread by EB member nausicaakro. EDIT: now updated with final pics and REVIEWS! EDIT: more photos in this post by legomilk Prices are indicative. Sets to be released in January 2011. The Egypt sets are at first sight very impressive, and something bothering me is that there is a lot of shooting and fighting. Here you can also collect different things like Atlantis, which are housed in the various sets. As new parts: wings, knives, staff, beetles, and an elevated base plate. (I hope things are printed and not decorated with stickers!) Lots of tan, a little pearl-gold, a little dark tan, a little dark red. Elements from the PoP series I have not spotted at first sight. 7305 Attack of the scarab € 4.99 REVIEW 1 young adventurer and a sort of technic monster in blue (a giant scarab i suppose) Extra: 1 gold cristal. 7306 Race for the golden staff € 9.99 REVIEW 1 senior adventurer on a red bike, with dynamite and rifle against 2 mummies with old black pharaons helmet, sword and scarab shield (In black). The legs of the mummies are printed! The scarabs aren't printed but the shield itself has the shape of scarab. Extra: 1 golden staff. New shape for it, very strange it is like an half moon... 7307 Duel in the air € 19.99 REVIEW REVIEW2 English biplane with standard pilot fight against 2 mummies. They have wings in gold, red blue and white and a new helmet, like an horus face. Extra: 1 blue diamond. Very spectacular! 7325 Cursed Cobra Statue € 29.99 REVIEW 2 adventurers on a red jeep against a BIG cobra and a standard mummy. Extra: 1 golden scarab shield. The cobra is a bit knobbly, I prefer minifigs... 7326 Mysterious Sphinx € 49.99 REVIEW 1 adventurer with a red car and rifle against 2 standard mummy. The sphinx is a big statue with anubi head. I dont like it very much, too childish. Extra: golden mummy sword 7327 Pyramid of the Pharaoh € 99.99 (including half-track) REVIEW A big big set with 3 adventurers and 4 mummies. 2 mummies have a new complete helmet with anubi face. Very sweet. There is also 1 horus mummy (with wings) and a giant scorpion. IT IS A FULL pyramid, very big, with golden portal and 2 side doors. It has a plastic baseplate and i think a lot of stickers. Extra: golden standard pharaoh helmet.

Yes, with all the shooting involved and the biplane, this sounds more like Adventurers than a true historic theme. Is this the unexpected comeback of Johnny Thunder? Can't wait to see the chosen colour palette and minifigures. EDIT: I thought it would be better to have a separate topic for the Egypt theme discussion, now that it's confirmed. Tsk tsk

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 3 discussion
Fugazi replied to Klaus-Dieter's topic in Special LEGO Themes
I think the 16 figs themselves are set in stone (since they're probably already in production), it's just that the descriptions seem to conflict a bit. It's quite understandable, in the absence of a written list from TLC. -
LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 3 discussion
Fugazi replied to Klaus-Dieter's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Indeed! By combining Klaus-Dieter's list with than on 1000steine, we get: Minifigure Series 3: -fisher with fishing pole and fish -Ferrari racer (red torso) with helmet -mummy with scorpion -sumo wrestler (yellow torso and pants) with trophy -samurai knight with removable armor and samurai sword -Hawaii girl (green skirt print) with two green rattles -baseball player with baseball bat -elf with bow and big buckler -Native American chief with lance -alien with space gun -rapper with mike? and recorder? -gorilla with banana -female snowboarder with pink helmet and snowboard -half-human half-robot -female athlete -? doctor/surgeon with suitcase OR adventure pilot? More knowledgeable Germanophones can correct me! KD, where are you when we need you! -
You're welcome! There is more in the original post, about NinjaGo, space port sets, Atlantis, Technic, Creator, Games, Duplo, etc... but I will wait for a more competent translator!
-
Superb review, now I can hit myself for being in my dark age when this came out! This seems like a great set both for parts and design. The transformation shack is in my eyes quite un-legoish and it's a gimmick I could do without, but the rest of the set is just well thought out and wonderful! Thanks for a very interesting review!

A post by Quex on 1000steinne.de seems to confirm an Egypt theme in April! Google Translate gives us:
-
There are some more details about the upcoming 2011 sets (City and other) in German here, if a German member would be so kind as to provide a better translation than Google!
-
Your podium definitely looks like something coming out of Atlantis! Good work Skalldyr, you've inspired me, maybe I will attempt an alternate build too!
-
I'm bumping this topic as a reminder, because as details of 2011 sets are now slowly trickling in we can keep an eye out for the possible disappearance from the colour palette of Trans Black (Smoke), and the introduction of a new colour in its place.
-
Didn't 10152 (the original Maersk ship) start out as a limited release as well, then was eventually offered in shops? I can only hope that the same happens with 10155.

This is all good advice Superkalle, thanks for your insight. While there is always a fair amount of interest when a collecting or historical topic pops up, these are relatively few and far between, probably not enough to support a sub-forum on their own. But as you said, some hype is often required to get things moving. I'm sure that given time, and with the ever growing (and aging!) AFOL community, these topics will come up more often. I'm no expert but I have the feeling that the collecting community is living and sharing primarily in the Bricklink forum, but I don't see a reason why EB couldn't have their own archives and collector's corner. That said, I think there is enough material already to warrant the creation of an index, if that would help get things started and encourage members to submit their articles or photos. Is there anyone from the staff (or outwith) that would like to tackle this task? If no one else will I can probably do it, if I can be authorised to. It can't hurt to have quicker access to those still relevant topics that would drift into oblivion otherwise.

The idea of an Eurobricks Mafia is awesome, if perhaps technically more difficult. And when can we expect a Fabuland mafia, pleease? Or what about a Time Cruisers mafia, that could involve some interesting 'night' actions!
-
And then they wouldn't be able to torture the newbies? Naah!
-
The way I see it, taking part in a Mafia game is an added bonus to the membership in EB, not a constitutional right. If staff or fellows are occasionally 'rewarded' after a fashion for their involvement in EB by being picked first for Mafia games, it's fine with me and I don't expect to play in every one of them. Maybe eventually there should be two games running in parallel, if there are really that many people interested.

Beautiful MOC Legolas73, it's nice to see how different building shapes and colours come together to form an harmonious whole. I guess the same can be said about real-life French architecture! The small details gel everything together. Well done! In French, méridional relates to the southern part of France, le Midi. Indeed, this does not translate well to English.
