Welcome to Eurobricks Tyrann! Veeery nice truck, I love the design and the printed bricks! Thanks for sharing, you're quite lucky to have one. One small thing: the original driver's hat appears to be black? (picture from Peeron)

What makes you think that the photo was legally acquired in the first place? If it wasn't, then TLG have all the rights to ask for it to be pulled off. It's just like if I stole a pic from your computer and posted it online.

See you can still be cool and play with Lego
Fugazi replied to Hewman's topic in Culture & Multimedia
Well, he certainly didn't choose an impulse to start with... I'm sure he's looking forward to Tower Bridge now! Actually maybe he's the one suggesting the idea to TLG? -
I have another loosely related question, about the characters in the 6000 Idea Book. You know, these guys: On Bricklink I learned that their (English) names are Bill and Mary, but where does that info comes from? My edition of 6000 has very little text and none of it relates to the characters by name. Were the names mentioned in another edition of the same book?

Ahaha! Excellent, very funny! And nice twist at the end. Most of these guys actually look better in blue than red, maybe there's still time for them to change sides?

General Pirates of the Caribbean Theme Discussion Thread
Fugazi replied to Oswald the Rabbit's topic in LEGO Pirates
Two waves? That's already more sets than PoP gave us, or the 2009 Pirate series! I say, this sounds great! Can't wait for more details. -
Hey that was MY idea!

Cargo train for me. I almost chose Public Transport, as it's one set that I didn't expect, and because the tram is something TLG never had designed before -- quite a feat, in 50+ years of history! Anyway, I still voted for the train, I was really looking forward to a new modern freight train and this year's cargo train set doesn't disappoint. Of course I have yet to buy it, but that's another story!

General Pirates of the Caribbean Theme Discussion Thread
Fugazi replied to Oswald the Rabbit's topic in LEGO Pirates
Wow! I'm of two minds concerning this possible new theme... Let's see: pros: - new moulds, accessories, new colours for existing moulds - a whole lot of new piratey minifigs, with beautiful prints if they are half as nice as the PoP minifigs - could become a long lasting theme, with 4 movies as background material - promotional sets cons: - license premium: likely more expensive than comparable Pirate sets - fleshies: how will they mingle with yellow heads? - no Bluecoats (who cares about Redcoats? ) In any case, this will bring more variety to the Pirate palette, and if the overall quality of the PoP theme is anything to go by, it should be a huge AFOL success. -
That sounds almost like a challenge! Oh and by the way, I totally agree.

Voting Tournament of Retribution Voting
Fugazi replied to Commodore Hornbricker's topic in Pirate MOCs
Yay! Bring on round 2! Can't wait for more comics! Oh and Redcoats, first round was just practice, we won't let you get away with more votes than us this time! -
Either way, it would make it more expensive than Winter Toy Shop while having fewer pieces. That's our reward for having bought Winter Toy Shop like there was no tomorrow.

Thanks for the pics whung! All 3 promotionals look rather uninspiring to me, but it's interesting to see one of those good old brackets, they haven't been used that much recently. While the boat and flying contraption aren't half bad, the police quad is probably the ugliest thing I've seen rolling out of TLG in 2010, right up there with 30030. Its only redemption is the minifig, 30030 had none. This goes to show that designing a great impulse is probably as difficult as creating a full-fledged set. Playability, sound design, originality (how many quads have we got already...), and all this using less than 30 pieces? Not an easy task.

Oh yeah, sorry, that's exactly what I meant! This Last Active info used to be out there on the members list, now it's only available upon clicking on the magnifying glass by each member's name. I just thought it was useful to have it on the main search page (like it was before the upgrade) instead of within the magnifying glass window.
-
Yes I figured as much, but of course I can't really tell which changes were approved by the admins and which were just unavoidable. Second box? I only can see it by clicking on the magnifying glass. And I would rather have it on the main page (maybe instead of the 'views' count which I don't find really useful). But that's just my opinion! Thanks!

It's not a big complaint, and overall I'm extremely fond of the new board, but I find that the members search page is less informative than it used to be. For instance, it used to feature the date of the last post (or visit?) of a member, so that we could see at a glance if the person was still active on EB or not. And the new layout kind of wastes a lot of space while displaying less information than before. I think the grid layout worked better. And I liked having the basic sorting tools (show...by...order...results) always visible at the top of the page, instead of having to press a button then scroll to the bottom of the advanced options panel. Maybe some compromise could be reached? Like either reinstating the basic options to the top of the main page, or at least migrating them to the top of the advanced options panel? These are really minor issues I know, and as I mentioned, they don't detract from what I think is a greatly improved board!

Ahah! Good old Paul, always right of course!

Voting topic - LDD Only Class
Fugazi replied to Superkalle's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
I must agree with Sandy here, I would enjoy looking at LDD images much more if the rendering could be improved to feel more natural. It would probably eat up too much processing power, but it would really add to the experience. It's especially obvious in the LDD+real bricks category, where the real LEGO look so much better than their electronic counterparts. Note that I do think LDD is a great design tool -- it's just not a very artistic one! Nevertheless, here are my favourite entries (1 point each): Designer: Saracen EntryID: 144 Name: Irish Troubles Designer: Bojan Pavsic EntryID: 146 Name: Circus Arena Designer: sunnyx EntryID: 149 Name: BattleCruiser from StarCraft II Good luck to all! -
Wow! Although I won't be able to afford such a set, the Tower Bridge is looking good to me. Compared to other 'UCS' buildings such as Taj Mahal and Eiffel Tower, I find it has a nicer part diversity and probably more playability as well, even though it's not minifig scale. I look forward to more detailed photos, being curious about the details of the build and the part selection.
-
Oooh, that's such a nice little set! I hope it doesn't get too expensive with the power functions light. Anyway, it's a great source of nice parts and minifigs, just like last year's Toy Shop. And nice to see more medium nougat, including the (new?) larger arches. Did we ever get to vote for a 'colour of the year'?

Thanks for the information! Those huge grey tiles can come in handy for street laying. Yes, definitely a set that I would like to buy, especially if I can find it on sale someday. And thanks for the review Dunjohn, you are becoming quite the Games theme specialist!
