Color Identification request
Fugazi replied to P4trickvH's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
I stand corrected! Interesting. I can understand why chrome colours didn't have Material IDs to start with, as they are not different materials as such but rather 'surface treatments' like speckled and drum lacquered finishes. When the latter started getting their own material IDs, I suppose it was only a matter of time before chrome colours were included in the list as well. -
[Review] Moulding Machine #4000001 (Lego Insider Tour Exclusive)
Fugazi replied to Si-MOCs's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Thanks for this great review SI-mocs, it's very considerate of you to share your treasured set with us instead of keeping this beauty sealed for all eternity! I must say that I'm not over-enthused by the model itself, it's certainly a nicely done reproduction but a moulding machine is not something very exciting to me. More exciting is the exclusivity of the set, and the signatures of the designers! Anyway, I'm sure that this Insider tour is the experience of a lifetime, and such an exclusive gift really nicely caps the whole experience! Many thanks again for a quite unique review! -
This is an interesting question, and I'm probably not the most qualified person to answer since I've never built a Fabuland MOC myself. However I am one of those attracted to the theme, and I can perhaps comment on some of your points. First of all, I'm not sure that Fabuland is such a big deal in the AFOL community. Fabuland MOCs on EB are few and far between, and the Fabuland MOC index is not as long as you would think. We talk a lot about it, but how many of us really build Fabuland? The recent Fabuland-based mafias have helped bring Fabuland back in the active topics, but it's all the work of one member! Then there is the Fabuland Edge. It's the dichotomy between the intended innocence of the theme, and the worse human flaws that MOCers mix in humorous and caustic creations. SlyOwl, Hinckley, Sir Nadroj and other pioneers have introduced us to this style which is now inseparable (in my mind at least) from Fabuland. What many admire in Fabuland as a theme today is actually the cutting edge where these genial MOCers have taken the theme, a twisted and perverted world so full of humour and humanity, more than the original universe of childish fables. But perhaps the major point I would like to make is that you're trying to analyse this much too rationally. Fabuland is a love affair, based on sympathy, nostalgia, and admiration for some awesome MOCers. When love strikes, rational considerations such as part juniorisation and sticker usage become very much secondary.

David Hensel - "TODAY WILL BE REMEMBERED AS THE DAY YOU ALMOST CAUGHT CAPTAIN JACK SPARROW", said jack as he tripped over a fish while trying to escape - 1 point This caption seemed to me like something Jack would totally say, then mess up -- boastful but clumsy, totally in character! Elliott Fullner - Everyone look out! Anyone who drinks me rum gets to taste me pet fish Eric! - 1 point I guess the irrelevance of the caption -- including the pet's name bit -- cracked me up! Absurd humour always works for me. Craig Jansen - What the Knights Who 'Til Recently Said Ni can train you to do - 1 point Ah, a Monty Python reference! Certainly Jack Sparrow looks like someone who could have been trained by that bunch of lunatics. With a sacred word Jack would certainly manage to get himself out of trouble... or into even more! -
Have a great one Siegfried!

Welcome to Eurobricks, spacefan6901! I just wanted to share that back when I joined EB my original username was space6901, seeing that 6901 Mobile Lab was my first Lego set ever. I gather that this Classic Space set may also have been your source of inspiration?

Mafia School: Fabuland Housewives - The Conclusion
Fugazi replied to Hinckley's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
Congratulations to the players for making this a very entertaining game! Same to Hinckley for your excellent hosting and spectacular grand finale! And poodles are overrated. Go goats! -
Thanks for bringing this official chart to us, LuxorV! It's pretty much what we predicted back here, but it's terrific to have the official word on this. And it's also quite timely, as the new colours are starting to appear in Alien Conquest and Cars sets.

Join the green dots! - Given by I Scream Clone, after inviting me to a Connect the Dots game on recycled paper. That's my version anyway!

Here's wishing you a Big Day!

To this list, I think Tesco Home at Fort Kinnaird (EH15 3HS) should be added.

Thanks for this interesting report, def. There's no bad way of marketing Lego if it helps make it available where it wouldn't be otherwise. If the price is right and the selection is fine, then I'm all for it. I'm not too keen on the random selection though. I'd rather have a number of machines selling every polybag separately, but perhaps it wouldn't be as profitable for the sellers.

Free LEGO promotion with UK Sun and News of the World
Fugazi replied to pedro's topic in Buy, Sell, Trade and Finds
Yes, during the last Daily Mirror promo most stores in my area received their Lego stocks for two days at a time. So on the first day I could get two models at once and save a trip. The down side was that by the second day they sometimes had nothing left at all. -

Don't know, maybe it was planned all along? Various forums, including the Brickish Association and Brickset. Could be just a rumour, but one I thought was worth spreading. Either way, we'll know for sure in a few days. I think the original source is this: http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/deals/bargains-deals-discounts/lego -
Free LEGO promotion with UK Sun and News of the World
Fugazi replied to pedro's topic in Buy, Sell, Trade and Finds
Rumours have it that the free Lego offer may be extended for two days (Saturday and Sunday) with a "Star Wars ATST" and "Pharaoh’s Quest Desert Glider" (possibly sets 30054 and 30090). Still waiting for an official confirmation though. -
General Discussion and Announcements
Fugazi replied to Dragonator's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
Well done Rick and def, congrats to you guys! Rick, the behind the scenes schemer and def the slippery devil! You are both fearsome players, it's very appropriate that your awesomeness should be acknowledged! -
Added direct links to the reviews in the first post. Also added the battle pack pic, thanks to Prateek.

I have updated the first post with the official names of the new 2011 colours, as found in LDD. Moreover, it would appear that the official colour list has been released on other forums. On top of the changes detailed above which have been confirmed, an old colour has been reintroduced to the palette: 20 Nature, known on Bricklink as Milky White. I wonder in what theme will this one show up?

One thing led to another and in the end we never got a chance to go back and investigate Alan's home. Would we had found anything interesting there?

I think def means that the background story of the commie characters made them suspicious from the get-go. So either they were made commies because they already had valid motives in their background story, or they had background stories that fitted their commie alignment. In a way, this is what a Mystery game is all about: finding clues in the narrative. On the other hand, I have to agree with def that it was perhaps too easy for the town to find out that Dolores had past issues that made her very suspicious. This could have gone either way, as I found her so suspicious that I almost couldn't believe she really was a commie! She may have had unrelated reasons to kill Laura, or she could have been completely innocent, but the narrative made her commie and it was too bad for her. def did a great job of deflecting suspicions for so long, but I do think he had to fight against an initial handicap. Not so sure about Liebenston though, I think he actually had the narrative on his side -- I had the feeling that he was like an outside observer that came to Alabatha to find the scum already present. A general comment now Bob, and I really don't want this to sound negative, because it's a genuine question. I can't remember how this was dealt with in previous Mystery games, but you chose to have the players 'declare' their PM conversations. It does make sense because in real life players would have been aware most of the time of private conversations happening within the group. I don't know how scrupulously this rule has been obeyed, but it seems to me like there was very little PM going on during the game. As opposed to Mafia games, it didn't seem to me like townie groups were forming, or that action results were shared that much -- although this happened in the public thread during the last few chapters. Did you expect this, and do you think this has had a negative impact on the town performance?

How open are you about your Lego passion?
Fugazi replied to Fugazi's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Not sure that would improve things! In a way though, the Lego conventions and events are pride parades: a time for the AFOL to 'come out of the closet' as a group and show their hobby to the world. Interacting with the public goes a long way towards changing the perception that the AFOL are nothing more than a bunch of weirdos. -
Mafia School: Fabuland Housewives Discussion Thread
Fugazi replied to Hinckley's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
I wish I were playing! This game is off to a great start! -
Once I was given the action, I protected iamded, Flitwick, Cornelius and finally myself (after being convincingly accused by Lord Arjay). Dragonator as Liebenston claimed that he had a protection vest, I gather that wasn't true then?
