Thanks guys, first post updated!
-
My mistake, thanks for noting. Corrected!

Happy birthday to both of you! You'll just have to share a cake!

Girls? Like in LEGO Girls? Not even Gurlz or something? Interesting news for sure. Not sure I like the idea of a non minifig-based theme, but then there's Fabuland... I shall wait and see. Dark red and tan sounds nice and classy, although a mix of colours probably not commonly seen on the real vehicle. I'm certainly looking forward to the first pics of this beauty. How dare you!! It's not just a large box, it's a large box of intelligent design, curvalicious beauty and infinite promise of roadtrip happiness!

For me, it's chiefly a matter of time. I will comment on a very few (if any) of the 10+ MOCs that show up every day on EB. I can't justify taking the time to comment on every MOC, and besides there are a few other issues that need to be factored in: - Some MOCs are just not my cup of tea: for instance I'm not an expert Technic builder, so even if I'm impressed by a build I may not be very familiar enough with the theme to be able to give useful input. - Everything's been said: I don't feel it's useful to repeat previous posters' comments if I don't have anything new to add to the discussion. - I just can't bother: a few MOCs are just bad, boring, badly photographed or just like too many others I've seen before that I can't figure out what to reply. I wouldn't know where to start. Some people here are great at giving constructive criticism, I'm not one of them. And I try hard to shut up when I can't say anything nice.

I would love to play in this mafia, if only because the game format promises fast and bloody action, and that Belleville figs look so creepy. 13 players, no PMs, definitely a challenging setup! Looking forward to playing or watching this one. I have no plans to travel, be kidnapped, become comatose or stop paying my internet bill in July.

Sure, I'll add it to the original post.

Sorry for the confusion! Initially the battle pack was there in the initial post, but eventually the link to the picture went broken and instead of trying to find another picture I edited the whole thing out instead! I'll go right now and add the battle pack back in.

Probably because they don't have any yet in stock.

An interesting development -- Lego Cuusoo is soon going global. from: http://legocuusoo.po...o-international The beta page can be found at http://lego.cuusoo.com/

Good for you. May I suggest next time to wait until you actually have something to post (photos, PaB report) before starting a new thread.

Not being an expert Lego railroader, what I would like to see is a book akin to one that I bought many years ago for HO trains: Kalmbach's ABC's of Model Railroading. This book was a compilation of short (3-5 pages) articles previously published in a model railroading journal. It included basics on every topic relevant to layout building, and the concept can easily be translated to Lego trains. Examples of topics would be: - what to buy to get started - track and power options (12V, 9V, RC, PF, non-Lego) - wiring a layout - lighting a locomotive - track design (how to plan a layout, curvatures, operation) - planning and building grades - trackside buildings - MOCing accurate locomotives and cars - scenery I'm sure there are many more topics that could be covered. Any chapter/article could use previously published material or new stuff. Depending on binding, colour photos etc. I'd expect such a book to cost around $30-50.

True! As an aside, I recently noticed that Public Transport went up from GBP100 to GBP105 at TRU, these guys are mad.

Thanks for the scan, BrickStorm. I'm relieved to see that the older cargo train is still in the catalogue, meaning that the 'red cargo train' ('work train' or 'maintenance-of-way train' would be more accurate) is not a direct replacement for it. Hasn't it been quite a while since 3 train sets have last been available concurrently -- not counting the exclusive Maersk? This could be a sign that TLG are finding their way and making the Trains subtheme profitable again.

Thanks for the details! Yes, I guess in the long run a purpose-made timber frame is the way to go. That or a heavy-duty styrofoam board.

This is a wonderful project, I love both the idea and the way you're pulling it off! The inclined baseplates present an interesting building challenge and I like what you're doing to liven up that slope. This is certainly something I'd want to try when I have enough space to set it up! Have you fixed your baseplates to the cardboard or are they just resting on top? If you feel like it I'd really wish for a global view of your setup because it seems to me like one of the biggest hurdles is to provide a solid base for the whole thing. How do you support the incline? And please do keep updating with your improvements!

Happy birthday folks! Ooh that's an impressive cake! Just make sure you don't bite ABS!

Thanks for the review JamesBenjamin, I happened upon it randomly and my eye was caught by some of the unique Hasbro parts. The ladder would look just right on American-type diesel locomotives (such as the Maersk train), and the I-beam type wall in different heights would be great for girder bridges and as roof support in industrial buildings. I just wish Lego would rip-off Hasbro (poetic justice?) and come up with similar parts!

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 5 discussion
Fugazi replied to eiker86's topic in Special LEGO Themes
I don't think that making integral gloves is a good thing, as it seriously limits the polyvalence of the part. Unless I'm mistaken, the diameter of the minifig hands' rod is only compatible with minifig arms? So the gloves can only be connected to minifig arms, and it won't be possible to use them with other types of arms/parts. I'm thinking Fabuland minifigs for example, or just using the gloves by themselves. They will be doomed to just lie around loosely in MOCs without any kind of solid connection. TLC definitely should have gone the way of the pompoms, even if it meant adding to the part count of this minifig. -

+1 for WhiteFang! Thank you my friend! -
As you can find out on Bricklink, used Statue of Liberty sets apparently sell for more than $500.

Just like our Canadian friends did, I'm sure that this topic can indeed be put to better use than to discuss Footie and the rain! Please folks do try to keep mostly to Eurobricks-relevant topics, and not turn this place into a spam-fest! Show your British pride by making your thread a welcoming one.
