Strange pod found - maybe of alien origin?
Siegfried replied to CopMike's topic in Culture & Multimedia
I liked all the space lines... yes even Mars Mission. -
Pretty cool! Aside from the middle leg movement it looks "realistic".
-
If that was the case it would probably be just one side. Is it? It looks cool just the same.

(MOC) Space Police Modified Baracuda tcx17 Cruiser
Siegfried replied to Tereglith's topic in LEGO Sci-Fi
I love it when someone makes up a back story to explain/justify a MOC! It's a very good and logical reason too. As for the MOC, I like it... but the tail seems out of place to me. -
Smilling stamp print inside 8258 box
Siegfried replied to paanjang16's topic in General LEGO Discussion
The image doesn't work, and the site wants me to "Check out Lonely Wives in your Area". Are you trying to tell me something? -
Smilling stamp print inside 8258 box
Siegfried replied to paanjang16's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I've been assembling my 8258 and while I had no smiley stamp, I've been smiling a bit! (I've never had a smiley stamp...) -
What I was saying was that JimButcher was not on the "Online Users" list at the time of my post, nor is he now. Sorry for being confusing. Yes, I read it. I always have a page or two from EB open; right now I have 6. But if I go away for a while EB sees me as being offline. So there is no chance of someone thinking you are active. Being logged on simply means that there is a cookie on your computer that matches a hash on the EB server. When you log out that cookie is removed. (It also expires over time.) At this time I'm logged on to EB with at least three computers. But EB cares nothing about this when determining the "Online Users" list. It's all about activity, that is, the last time you clicked on any EB link while logged on.
-
It actually doesn't make a difference in most browsers unless you have the page set to auto-load. For the record though, I never log off if using my own computer... which is 99.999% of the time. Also, logged on or not, you're "off-line".

How many Brick Separators do you own?
Siegfried replied to Big Cam's topic in General LEGO Discussion
4, all green and bought from S@H. I try to keep 2 upstairs and 2 down so they are always handy. I've been considering making one into a keyring. -
<subtle reminder> Make sure you ask permission before taking this to the next stage </subtle reminder> I'm semi-interested.

Cool! Very smart mod. Is that special paint? It looks sorta furry! I love Domo!

Yes. Why wouldn't it be?

The money that is put into space research is a drop in the ocean compared to other expenses such as silly wars. If it wasn't for space directed research we'd be still using slide rules and abacuses at schools and EB would be a physical newsletter. GPS wouldn't exist, nor would most live TV... Follow the link Eilif posted for more details. Even if we did put all the space research money to solve Earths problems it would achieve nothing. It's simply not enough and besides, Earths problems cannot be solved by money alone. Also, the faster humans get off this pretty rock and spread the better. It's all too easy for all of us to die out with one stray asteroid and I for one want us to have a better chance of surviving and spreading LEGO to the rest of the universe. To do this we need to practice colonisation and the moon is perfect for that purpose. They're not bombing the moon anyway. It's a crash landing of a probe and its booster. No explosives required. (Predictable reply from the Sci-Fi forum leader. ) To be blunt, because you don't care enough. I've been keeping track of this mission for months. The information is all on the web...

No, he's the Star Wars Moderator and that just means that he's primary focus is in the Star Wars forum. It doesn't mean that he can't use his sith powers elsewhere. The same goes for all moderators. While I'm here, please let me remind people that there is never an excuse to create two topics with the same (or very similar) content. Just pick the forum that matches best.

That's really nice! As for the colours, we'll see. Sure we got the silver one, but that was just overflow from a TV promotion... and it was quite late in the PS2 life cycle. ...or you could use Opera. I doubt it. Consoles have a long development cycle; no way would a 100% new console come out that fast. What I have heard is that Sony are considering doing an enhanced PS3 first. I hope that rumor is false too, but I think it's more likely. After all; all the original PS3s had a SPU disabled to increase yields. By now that wouldn't be a problem and I think there is a good chance that they have stopped doing that in a physical way. It wouldn't surprise me if there is a software method to re-enable it for recent PS3s, as well as increase the clock frequency. (My PS3 rarely even get warm, unlike my 360.) They pulled a similar trick with the PSPs... Personally I think the PS3 is a bargain.

I've updated the index so it covers all sets. If I've missed any nag away! All reviews haven't been added yet though.

Well as best I can gather (I don't speak Japanese ) Domo is highly influenced by TV, doesn't like to miss it and takes what he sees too far. That does seem to be the premise of the promotions. Personally I'd see that as a the wrong way to promote a TV station, but what would I know! It's clear that he likes the bear too, but I think he likes TV more. Looking deeper, I suspect that his own uncertainty as to what he actually is causes this problem. He's looking for something to define himself by and sees TV as an inspiration. But maybe I'm taking this whole thing too serious.

250 GB: True Colours: Probably true only for Japan.

Buy, Sell, Trade and Finds makes more sense to me.

Yes it is mine and thanks very much. It's not clear if he's claiming it as his own so I made a subtle comment highlighting that it isn't. The funny thing is that I was watching a Domo video only a few hours ago!

TLG to Participate in NMRA National Train Show 2009
Siegfried replied to riplego's topic in LEGO Train Tech
Oh I feel horrible now! Welcome to EB! -
You forgot part zero; Ask permission... and post in the right section. I'll discuss this with the staff.

My pleasure. It's worth it providing we get there in the end! Yeah, it's quite impressive what you can do with CSS.

No. This is how it is supposed to be. There are no errors, bad design or vestigial remains. Let me explain... Let's just say the banner size is.... XXXXXX ...and the background is... YYYYYYYYYY What normally happens is the background and banner are shown together, and it looks like this; XXXXXXYYYY Why is it done like this? This is so there is a banner that covers the whole window top without causing a horizontal scroll bar. To do this you make a banner that is the same width (or less) than the average screen size, and add a background that matches. A background can be easily set to only fill the avaliable screen, unlike a banner. The background can also be set to repeat, giving you this effect; XXXXXXYYYYYYYYYYYYYY In summary, we want a banner that covers the whole top. A single image would cause a horizontal scroll bar to appear in small screens, and would be too small for big screens. A banner plus a background gives us the best of both worlds... when they both load. Get it?
