  1. Keep making posts like that and I'll be offering you an admin position! Yeah, if we do this again I'll probably host them myself; I have full control over the URL then and I have three domain names to play with! Some could even be hosted on the EB server. To be honest I don't consider this a major problem; someone would need to find at least two to establish a pattern, and we could stick in a few extra ones that don't match the clues to make things just a little bit harder. Thanks for sharing your logic though.
  2. ...don't forget Technic, community, BrickFlicks, BSTF, Train, Events... Why is this? Clues were based on a connection with the image. Thus it should be expected that most would be found in themes like Town and History. Do you think we should have went for clues that had nothing to do with the image at all? I do agree here. Perhaps we should have made a clue for one of the Series One figs. We'll try to if there is a next time. OK. Sorry for reading you wrong.
  3. Huh? Please note that this was a raffle, not a test of skill. It was never intended or implied that getting all right was a guarantee of success. We wanted as many people who put the effort in to have a chance of winning, and that's why we expanded it to the less successful members. But as I said it seems most who stuck it out to the end got them all as well so it didn't make any difference.
  4. Yeah? I can't see it. Do you mean the 4xxx part? Was that enough to find it? http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4116/4919163059_0551d3cc83_m.jpg http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4082/4919163137_0a75dd0033_m.jpg http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4134/4919163295_613d83b36c_m.jpg http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4121/4919163195_c51d5db376_m.jpg I gave it a go and you get a lot of hits, but I suppose it's doable. Could we combat that? Only if we avoided Flickr. Well I hope so! Lower that we wanted, but high enough. I picked them using a program. The people that won were removed from the list so it wasn't possible that someone was picked 7 times.
  5. No, you're wrong; everyone that won found them all. We might as well just left it at all-or-nothing! 87% of our entrants found them all, and it turned out that the 7 chances was too strong a force to allow any others to win!
  6. I take no offense as I don't agree! Even ignoring Batman or set knowledge, as Fugazi said a Peeron search results in two sets; Striking Venom and the BatTank. But most of all, we knew it was a possibility that some of the clues would be not found and we had contingencies for that. Thus I personally aimed the clues to be hard-ish. But please share your opinions; we hope to do something similar again and the more data the better. Next time we'll probably have more clues and only expect 95% completion. In this case we were in a bit of a time crunch. There are many themes that have a lot of back story; for example I'd probably go horrid at one that relied on Harry Potter knowledge! By allowing for a few misses and having diverse clues you can compensate for that to a degree.
  7. Give me 5... Here are the rest. None of these were made by me, and I won't out the staffer responsible. 3) Pop Star [Where can the Pop Star get a good skirt? It can be found in a tutorial] [Link] 5) Spartan [Take a search for the closest LEGO set there is to a Spartan action figure...] [Link] 6) Witch [it's a witch! As we all know, the best way to deal with witches is to hunt them and put them on trial for their crimes. This noble witch is suitably found paying for its crimes in such a place.] [Link] 8) Ringmaster [Oh god, please help me find my circus. Last I heard it was in a contest MOC] [Link] 12) Surfer [A lot of people would want him to be their sigfig. Can be found in a discussion.] [Link] 13) Mexican [He likes to roams the streets of his village. Can be found in a MOC.] [Link] 14) Mime Artist [Poor Mime, why must you be sad? You look so miserable, but at least you've found a friend to cry with. Maybe you could both wear your happy faces instead?] [Link] 16) Jungle Explorer [is ready to take to the skies in a review] [Link]
  8. He's been discussing his new job in the Staff Forum. Well the names have been picked by my random machine, but it's up to White/DarkFang to post them. To keep you all busy, here are the links to the clues by me, with a small explanation of what I was on about. Feel free to insult my clues. 1) Vampire [He's home playing Mahjong.] [Link provided by Siegfried] Not very hard; the MOC featured the actual figure, it was recent, and it was easily searchable. 2) Traffic Cop [He's hanging around with some fellow motorcycle cops, but unlike him in this review they are armless.] [Link provided by Siegfried] Ahh, I loved this one. "Armless" cops... gee I'm so funny. I've used the same joke before so anyone familiar with the early minifigs should have been able to find this fast. If not, this would have been hard. 4) Skier [11 Skis... but no skiers did he find in this review.] [Link provided by Siegfried] This was the first thing that sprung to mind. Should be easy for anyone who owns the set, and if not "11" should have made you think. "Ahh! Off to Peeron I go!" 7) DJ [The DJ went to PSM-2 as he heard DJ Force was there but he didn't get what he expected in the Sci-Fi forum.] [Link provided by Siegfried] I didn't like this clue... but I couldn't think of a better DJ one in the time I had. I didn't want to make it too hard so I said "DJ Force" and since he's a member it was too easy to find. If you didn't pick up (or know) he was a member you would have been in more trouble though! 9) Karate Master [Faster than a speeding rocket he decended to the ocean floor to meet a famous karate expert in a review.] [Link provided by Siegfried] Spongebob Squarepants. Anyone familar with the show (my kids love it) would get this in about 30 seconds. Sandy the Squirrel is Karate obsessed and lives on the bottom of the ocean doing research. Once she made a rocket down there (insane concept, but I digress) and there was a set made of that. 10) Pharaoh [i can't tell you where he is; it's forbidden. But I can tell you it's in a review.] [Link provided by Siegfried] Easy. Probably too easy in fact. It's a review so the first thing you should do is go to a list of Adventures sets, on or off site. Answer found... 11) Weightlifter [He's off in a review to prove he doesn't need venom to be the strongest.] [Link provided by Siegfried] Batman reference. Bane is a character who made himself super strong with a drug called Venom. Knowing that there's only one set Bane was found in. 15) Lifeguard [After failing to find a beach paradise to work on she went to a review about a poolside one.] [Link provided by Siegfried] Also too easy. The words are all there; a paradise that is poolside.
  9. Sorry, but please don't. This used to be part of our rules and it was lost during one of the edits, but I've now re-added it. In short this forum... I'll leave your topic unedited so people know what you're trading just this once, but please keep this in mind in the future. (Without this rule we would have a back-door for all sorts of selling/trading on EB, which we do not want.)
  10. "Still"? It may or may not happen, to be honest the staff hasn't even discussed it.
  11. Welcome to Hero Factory Month! In celebration of the launch of Hero Factory, the successor to the long running BIONICLE theme, Eurobricks is hosting an exciting contest with the main prizes donated kindly by the LEGO Group! But there's a twist - this month we'll be focusing on the under-represented villains and scumbags of Hero Factory, who deserve some time in the spotlight. The contest starts now, running until the 8th of October, and is your chance to see what Hero Factory is about if you were never too interested before. Remember to also stay tuned for more exciting events and giveaways throughout the month!
  12. mikey has made a place for his figs to relax at the end of a hard working day! Find more pictures here.
  13. This is hardly news. Also, if you'd read a review on the set (or own it like me) you'd know that the set comes with two blind wheels. It would seem the mold has two flanged and one blind so LEGO had a choice to toss them in or keep them for some unlikely project in the future. Review here.
  14. Happy birthday to you both! (...the same to Errorist, the Inventor, OGEL646, ShowaddyWaddy and Belchher as well! )
  15. But why stop there? The actual price of a part is a factor of many things, such as; 1. Amount of plastic used. 2. Complication of mold. (Some require 4 sides, some only 2) 3. Newness of mold. 4. Oldness of mold (some molds are so old they they don't work on the newer machines.) 5. Reliability of manufacture. 6. Color cost. The funny thing is LEGO do have an internal price list that take these things, and probably more, in to consideration. It's a shame they won't release it! I personally assess sets based on my need of the parts. Minifigs come into account to a degree, but I won't buy a big set just for 2 or three figs.
  16. 1. Shoot worked good for me. 2. The camera is 640x480. I don't recall that Sony has ever claimed otherwise.
  17. Nothing wrong with that hint; I think a few others have said something similar. Sorry, but no.
  18. Oh, those rocks. It might not even be from a set...
  19. Not sure, but I suspect you've got the posting record in my profile!

  20. A photo, even a really bad one, would help a lot.
  21. Not a prob. I never got around to testing the banner sized signatures; as it turns out most I did right, but a few weren't.
  22. Nothing! I set up the feature wrong; it should have been 600x200... Sorry for the delay; to test and fix this I needed to use two accounts as well as the admin panel and that's a lot of bother, and it wasn't important enough to drop everything for it. Issues like this I tend to note and deal with when I have a block of time big enough. (You did post this in the wrong topic topic though. )
  23. That's it. I'm going to get chambered.

  24. No, not at all. I just thought you wanted to retain your view count lead!

  25. Are you asking me to put you back in the chamber?
