Thanks. Archer and Boxer added to first post.

Then let's see these pictures of yours which are so much better. There is nothing to stop you posting your review; the more perspectives we get on a set, the better. If you're going to criticise, be sure you can back up your words. Isn't it better for you to post your review, and let your 'way better' pictures speak for themselves, rather than unfairly flaming another member just because he got there first?

Access granted. Welcome to the Academy!

It's a bit Pop-y, but it's a great song, and it's the soundtrack of the moment for me (and a great vid): Love that bridge

I presume you mean the Red Arrows. But the Americans got there first! There's no windscreen piece in our collection that would do the job, hence the slightly cumbersome brick-built bit! It is! Probably needlessly over-complicated for either style, but I'm pleased with the effect! Thanks (again) for frontpaging it! Ah, good old 80s rock! Thanks, lightningtiger! Actually, no! They are the police pilots from the stupidly oversized helicopter set. Well, one of them is. I think the other is being used for something else, so Osmond actually has the CMF mechanic torso. That's why his back is to the camera! I thought about it... but I'm sure it'll get shot down pretty quickly for being too military. Not literally shot down!

Formed in 1946, the Blue Angels is the US Navy's Air aerobatic demonstration squadron. They currently fly F-18 Hornets redecorated in the distinctive yellow and blue livery of their team. Here I have attempted to recreate one of these beautiful aircraft. This was created for a special project. My goal was to build a recognisable rendition of the aircraft from the parts we have - no expensive Bricklink orders; though I did buy the blue Ninjago jet for parts! Also, I make no claim on accuracy or scale; it's designed to seat two minifigures and fit into a minfigure scale layout. If it were built to scale with the real thing and minifigures, it would be several times larger and would dwarf the rest of the layout! Here we see the crew - navigator Lt. Osmond Imhoe and pilot Lt. Cmdr. Isobel Tepp preparing climb on board. It's also a good viewpoint from which to see how I attempted to recreate the split vertical stabilisers. Here she is from the top: The two-tone blue colour scheme was a conscious decision; the real jet's blue is somewhere between the regular and earth blues used here. You can also see here the brick-built front cockpit window, which caused me quite a headache! There are six trans-clear headlight bricks in there, all pointing in various directions. A view from the rear: The back end isn't as tidy as I'd like, particularly the horizontal stabilizers, as we'll see. Ideally I'd have used two Technic driving ring pieces for the jet nozzles, but there was no way R2-D2 would be sacrificed for this, despite his useful store of dark blue! From the side, you can see she has a nice 'hump' behind the cockpit ... ... however, the limitation of scale becomes apparent here: the whole should be longer, or the cockpit smaller. But I'm pleased with the overall look. For a small model she's acutally a very complicated build, with an awful lot of SNOT going on. Take the underside: While the cockpit sides are achieved quite simply with SNOT panels, the centre between the engine intakes has studs facing up, down, and both sides! The rear wheels are attached via technic axles in 1x2 bricks with cross-axle holes; sadly, they don't retract. I could possibly make the rear wheels fold away, but there isn't room to do that for the nosewheel. Here's a look at the workings of the engine nozzles and horizontal stabilisers: See! A use for flick-fires! I could have attached the stabilisers via technic pins, so that they would move; however, they'd keep getting knocked (or fall off) and it would leave a few unsightly gaps. I've used a rather over-complicated solution instead, which gives strength at the expense of the ugly black SNOT bricks showing. Here's a reference image: In memory of Glenn. Hope you like it! Thanks for reading. Rufus More on flickr If you like this model, please consider supporting it on CUUSOO.

Both are fine. The original's meaning is perfectly clear, so there's probably no need to correct it. 'A waste of time' would, I think, be best in this context. While the original is perfectly understandable, it sounds awkward, so I'd agree yours is better. Your suggestion is grammatically correct; the original probably isn't but might well be how the average Engliah person would say it!

First post updated. I'm a little underwhelmed by these. They're mostly too specific to be any use for anything except collectors' items. But I do like the horse rider, and the swimmer's torso might be useful.

Super! Thanks

I went back and tried what I had originally suggested. I moved the upper pair of 8-tooth gears down a hole. Unfortunately, they the impede the rocker switch, so the leg won't lock in the down position, so that's out. It might still be possible if you were to replace the two upper yellow 1x8 Technic bricks with 1x6s and add two 2-holed 1x2s at the top end, but I've yet to try this. I neglected to mention in the review that the two red 1x2 axles that are placed into the top of the legs during construction (and are necessary to prevent the legs falling apart in the three-legged position) are a pain in the backside to remove again.

It is. It's easily worth the full price. Save up for it

No trading here please. Use the BTSF forum. Thanks!

I don't think so.

Thanks for the news! I've updated the first post with the images we have so far. Thanks also to Rick for frontpaging.

I remember that in the 80s all 1x1 rounds came in pairs. They were single when I came out of my dark age in about '99. If you had single ones in this set, then I'd guess the change came around the time of this set's release, so some had the old example, and some the new.

LEGO Collectable Minifgures Series 8 Rumours & Discussion
Rufus replied to Piranha's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Please use the linked thread for discussion about the future of the CMF Series. If I have to move any more posts, I will lock this thread. Thanks! -
Some lovely pics here! Remus_Lupin, I love your series. Particularly the Computer Guy one - he looks like he just got an EB Board Error Message moctown: awesome! You have a great knack for photography. Way to combine two of Special's more disparate themes! Graysmith: nice scenes with great concepts! I'd just suggest taking the shots from a lower angle so the figures can face the camera.

Yay! You'd be most welcome. Access granted!

LEGO Collectable Minifgures Series 8 Rumours & Discussion
Rufus replied to Piranha's topic in Special LEGO Themes
This thread is going off-topic. Please use the 'Future Series Rumours' thread to discuss how many more series LEGO will produce etc. People check this thread for Series 8 news, so let's keep it to that. Thanks! Edit: I've moved some posts across. -
As Peppy said, it's a great ride. A proper rollercoaster, not like the tame things they usually have at LEGOLAND parks. Yes, you're right. But all over and around the ride are signs reading 'Polar Expedition', including one built from LEGO. Sadly, I failed to get any pictures. I suspect orange will be the theme colour, too The animals featured are mainly North Pole (polar bears, arctic fox etc.) but they do have live penguins there. I wouldn't put it past LEGO to include animals from both poles into the range!
