Why I would... that would be the ol' BAT GRAPPLE! So just about any Batman set will have those as a Batman accessory! Really? Well we'll see after the stern cabin is on. If it is still a little 'fat looking' I can alway lengthened up the mid section without much work!

I always like all the different hulls you used on your ships!
-
Some updates. Still have one school test left, so still a little slow for a while... Here are some of the stuff on the slide outs... A stove in the front (thanks for the Constitution links Phred ;-) ) And some bilge pumps in the middle... And a little jail sell at the stern...

Linienschiff and a Frigate displayed at Modeling Fair 2007 (Austria)

This one is okay, but I am not a huge fan. the main mast is WAY too tall and I don't like the sails. The side window is nice, but I think the stern castle is a little too tall. I like the brown/white one much better. It looks like it is using brown and rown though. I would also like a close up before making any official judgements on it! -
Wouldn't you agree that the DDW is at least... ah... loosely based on the Constitution ;-)

The one who steers the ship would be a helmsman!

Strike your colors, you bloomin' cockroaches!

I wonder why the second image didn't show up... if you copy and paste it into a browser it works fine! Well if it doesn't show up for others, here is a link to the picture! Second image! and then after I did that, the image showed up in the posts... maybe firefox was missing an extension or refused to connect to that site or something... well whatever the case, if YOU also don't initial see the second image follow the link above... -
I think purple is the thing connecting this whole faction! I would be more inclined to change the shirts from blue to something else... white or black or purple, or maybe even green... pretty much anything but blue. I realize that you may have practical considerations to deal with, but I am not a fan of the blue/purple scheme. I also don't entirely understand the red/blue mix on the first guys either, but practical considerations may be at work!

Ha! I didn't even know there was a 'very light gray'! Good job Dreamweb! The link will make me look like I know what I am talking about when I say midstone... I like that they have the BL colors names listed there too! I was also unaware there was a Very Light Bley... but I guess if you have a 'midstone', you better have a 'lightstone' too!!
-
Peeron calls light bluish gray midstone, so that is what I call it too I guess... heh- whatever!
-
Maybe I am prejudiced because I HATE bley! midstone is okay, but it sometimes looks a little too plastic-ee for my tastes. Here, i think the mixing actually looks pretty good!
-
These are all quite good! I am going to need some sailors for my current ship, I may try to dip into the world of custom torsos soon! Keep up the good work Mosana!
-
Good idea Phred! If I may offer a few other suggestions... Another way to decrease big gray wall syndrome is to make parts of the walls jut out or in to add some decoration, or gun ports! If you search for Torre de Bellum or the Fortress at Port Brighton in the forum for a few examples of this technique! I would add some sort of stairs or ladder to the interiors as well to access the different levels in the towers... I would also not mix midstone (new light gray) with the old. They are hard to tell apart, and the new color looks a little more 'plasticee'. I also wouldn't mix old dark gray with dark bluish gray as they look funny together too... but any other combo I think looks looks decent! Anyways, since you are just starting the MOC I will let you get a little more done before continuing the discussion! I think they are just discolored my man!
-
I wondered this myself... I mean they wouldn't use those giant electric bulbs or anything... they would have had to use an open flame or an encases flame... whatever, the MOPC is still cool! Another suggestion would be to move every other cylinder an eighth turn to the left or right so that the cylinders overlap and increase the strength of the tower! I might also add some sort of doorway on the upper platform level to enter the cylinder that leads up to the light tower's upper most section, but that is just me. Things I like about this MOC Originality, color coordination, use of some of the new colors, custom cannons, pretty good balance without being symmetrical, and some good ol' imperial guard fun! Keep MOCing captain!

No, no, perhaps I didn't say it right... I thought that if the lowest gun ports were OUT of the water, the ship would be too tall above the sea for its width and a strong wind gust could make it capsize. Yes, see here is what I actually said... If the ports were too low, and below the water line, the ship would take on to much water and sink!
-
Yes but at the time I posted, the link to the thumbnail posts was wrong in the index. bonepart got it fixed though, he is such a vigilant moderator! My point, is at the time we needed another link. The tutorials should be easy enough to find now that the link is fixed in the pinned threads!! Just click the pinned link at the top of the Pirate MOC forum for all the tutorials and indexes!

Mostly. I just needed some way to get access in there for move around guns and make some interiors... there is now a stove in the front for example, that I built on the the slide out platform then inserted into the ship!
-
Physical possibility I guess... on the original Arbiter II, I also probably had the gun ports a little low. I decided it was worth basically taking apart the whole ship to fix them! Perhaps oDDerFisken disagrees with me and likes the ship as is, which is completely fine, but I think it detracts from an other wise cool MOC. maybe going down to 2 decks would make it better... I haven't even ever attempted a 3 deck, and I seemingly have more pieces than Mr. oDDerFisken!!
-
I agree, but I think the anchors are only supposed to attach to the catheads when they are pulled up from the water... I will try to figure out how to set that up a bit better... anyhow, made a little progress. not my usual speedy self with finals here! More in a few days... I hope!!
-
That's cool, I hate wearing the formal get up anyways! Cool beans... I can loan us a ship if we need to sail to the mansion... if we have to walk, that's fine too :'-(
-
Ohhh!!! I love adventure! ZCerberus wants to go too!!! I know you have pirates, so my avatar might work out okay for my character. You wouldn't deny taking another good ol' Minnesotan, would you?
-
I don't suppose you also have scissors for hands... do you?
-
Ah, yes! As for the sails, it they are base on the Lego templates, then their look must be due to the fact that they are tied back on the bottom. I suppose when sailing they would look better because the wind would push them out and prevent them from looking so square! This makes the sails look they have caught the wind. Perhaps this could work for you as well. As for the continuing the hull wall on to the main deck... here are just a few examples of ships have some sort of decorative railing on the main deck, but still have guns on them as well... you may notice a pattern! Always checkout the Ship index on the site for some ideas as well... Here is a link to the index... Click me for Ship index! For some reason, I have always liked the very first one in the index there! :-D

The question is, with scissors for hands... How the heck did he get it on without taking out an eye?
