  1. I think the face is nice, though it could look "meaner" somehow. I like the size and scale and how it looks like you are designing him to come out of the water. He is a little "blocky" though. Try some slopes, SNOT and/or textured pieces to break up the stright sections a bit! A very nice start. I like the micro landscape as well. It is nice to see some of our long lost Avalonian brothers and sisters returning!
  2. It was NOT 11. 11 is Mesodraconem.
  3. I think it NOT being your thing is the best reason to try. I have never really done an action scene or made a LEGO monster, trying it out could improve my skills in those areas and help me become a better MOCer all around! The market looks nice! I hope to see some close-ups of all those stalls soon! I think Captain Green Hair may have made a Dutch Yacht a while back with a design like that. I would love to see how yours stacks up!! Check out Greeny's Yacht...
  4. We should focus on helping people improve their skills. People improve with time and feedback. Try giving some feedback on improvements instead of just insulting the MOC or MOCer.
  5. There is some real promise here. You have a lot of good ideas and some fun details. The issue as others have pointed out is the land seems a little sparse, as in it either needs more work in the space between the major parts of your build or you need to build in a smaller area if you don't quite have the bricks to fill the space. A nice start to be sure though.
  6. You don't have to build scenes that only include your character. I would totally still finish the farm!!
  7. Twice as sick as you suckahs! For my iPhone double posting "I'm down with the sickness.". Given by ISC.
  8. I think the rule is your base has to be within the area of a 48 x 48 base with reasonable overhang. For the micro landscape, the leaders are allowing a few extra studs beyond that but they cautioned if you do build your micro landscape outside the 48 x48 space it shouldn't constitute it's own MOC. Guild leaders- please clarify if I am off base here.
  9. Mean? I was just saying it is hard to know when you are serious which includes the "I quit comment"!!
  10. So cute and cuddly!! deadly!!
  11. I think when I saw the first pictures I did not get a good handle on the scale until I saw a later picture of the whole layout on the table. It really was enourmous. Bigger isn't always better, but in your case, you did have a lot of good details on that city.
  12. Looking good gabe. Expanding your mind and build skills for a challenge is half the point, so being a bit scared is a GOOD thing! I also would like to get a few free builds in. I have bases for two towers (one for fun and one so I have a 24 x 24 Avalonian tower to match the ones I did for brickworld) and DC title challenge build AND an Albion build. Too bad I haven't even put a single plate abovethe base on any of them yet!
  13. I love Avalonia and it fits my style, but if I had to switch guilds, I think I might go to Nocturnus. The army and characters and build stlyes are just so much fun! That's my pitch for the darklands!
  14. pick Nocturnus, they could use a few more good men!!
  15. There is a difference between license running out and sets being discontinued for shizzle. We for sure won't be seeing any sets this year. New movies bring new opportunities, but I wouldn't count on seeing any soon. There was still more material to work with but LEGO didn't release any new sets. That suggest the sets didn't perform if you ask me.
  16. just riding up a rock getting ready to throw a javelin.
  17. Hyler Talliwell made it for a contest on flickr, but he figure it worked for Nocturnus as well. Check it out here.
  18. I found them for you darkdragon! Check out the awesome throne rooms!
  19. Yes, it was incorrect on the MY map, not on the Avalonian map. I am glad it is where you thought it was!
  20. I am pretty sure you have it right! Mesodraconem is located here... Though on that map, the capital is not quite in the right spot. I know that you know and that everyone else knows it is located here...
  21. You can still find them at a few TRUs for sure. You'll have to spend some time feeling for spears. Just don't pay the 10.00 on Bricklink. Trading can be good if you want something they have and they want something you won't miss.
  22. There may be some one posting in this very thread with a BUNCH of Romans he would to trade for the right pieces... Just saying...
  23. Good call AC. You could also TRADE for some Romans perhaps. Go to the buy/sell/trade forum and see if you can strike a deal.
  24. Since we have had a few new members join us lately... Captain Settle- you can build a farm that fits in the Avalonian theme without NEEDING to claim a plot of land. However, as part of the fun, DC (our leader) has allowed us to claim plots of land to call home and develop our own histories. Jason Cicchini, the master cartographer, probably has the best handle on what land is available. I do not know if we have a fully up to date map with all the territories or not, but Jason would know. If you are NOT worried about developing your own lands, you can certainly build your farm outside our capital city of Albion or if you like, I would allow you to build a farm in my lands of Mesodraconem. It is located just south of the Capital between the Draconem and Cerberus rivers. Since you are new, I encourage you to check out the first post in this thread where out leader Artorious Rex issued some mini "title" challenges. One of them was to build a farm to achieve the title of "High Lord of Agriculture". You can check out the index threadfor some inspiration from every builder or click the pics below for some farms some of us built for the minichallenge. Since the farms are a little "old" now, I would recommend you don't comment on these older threads unless you have a question on a build technique or something very useful to add. Though I KNOW there are other good examples, here are a few farms in Avalonia for your inspiration...
